Foxborough Knocks Off Mansfield for First Thanksgiving Day Win Since 2006

It was a memorable Thanksgiving Day in Mansfield for the Foxborough High School football team as it snapped a five-game losing streak against its longtime rival.

MANSFIELD – An elated Jack Martinelli watched with a proud smile as his Foxborough High School football team celebrated a thrilling, 27-21 Thanksgiving Day victory over rival Mansfield (7-4) at Alumni Field. “I could not be more thrilled with this win,” Martinelli said. “Terrific win … proud of all 34 of my seniors.” The win was Foxborough’s first against Mansfield since 2006, ending a five-game losing streak vs. the Hornets. Thursday’s victory also cemented the legacy of the 2012 Warriors. “In this game you are only remembered of how good you were from your last win,” Martinelli said. “That was a decision [Foxborough’s players] had to make. Did they want to be remembered as the team that beat North Attleboro and Mansfield or just a 7-4 …

PHOTOS: Foxborough's Playoff Hopes Dashed with 14-7 Loss to Sharon

Sharon clinches its first Hockomock League Davenport Division title with 14-7 victory over Foxborough Saturday.

Foxborough's playoff drought continues for another year after a frustrating, 14-7 loss in Sharon Saturday. The Eagles (8-2, 3-0) clinched their first ever Hockomock League Davenport Division title and postseason berth with the seven-point victory over the visiting Warriors (7-3, 2-2). For Foxborough, it is a sixth straight year without a postseason appearance since the Warriors' Super Bowl championship in 2006. "We weren’t thinking playoffs," said Foxborough head coach Jack Martinelli following Saturday's game. "We were just thinking getting part of the [Hockomock League Davenport Division] championship." Sharon's defense prevented that from happening Saturday. The Eagles managed to keep Foxborough’s Kiivone Howard and the Warriors’ …

Foxborough Football Turns Attention to Sharon After Dominating Win Over East Bridgewater

Foxborough cruised past East Bridgewater, 28-8 Friday on senior night at Ahern Field. Next up is a showdown with Hockomock League Davenport Division leader Sharon on Nov. 10.

A non-divisional game the week before the biggest league game of the season would trip up plenty of high school football teams. But not Foxborough. The Warriors (7-2, 2-1) came out to play Friday on senior night at Ahern Field, easily dismantling East Bridgewater, 28-8. "It could have been a trap game, but these kids are too intelligent to let that happen," said Foxborough head coach Jack Martinelli following his team's fifth win over the last six games. Instead of being "trapped" by a non-divisional opponent, the Warriors were focused and dominant, playing with the level of intensity you would expect to see from them next week in Sharon. "[Divisional vs. non-divisional games] don’t matter to me," Martinelli said. "It doesn’t matter to the…

PHOTOS: Foxborough Back in Hunt for Davenport Division Title After 27-6 Win Over OA

Foxborough High School celebrated Homecoming with an important Davenport Division victory against Oliver Ames Saturday at Ahern Field.

Foxborough High School entered Saturday's Homecoming football game against Oliver Ames looking for redemption in the Davenport Division after suffering a 20-0 loss to Stoughton on Oct. 5. "We talked this week about this game hopefully being a second chance for us," said Foxborough head coach Jack Martinelli. The Warriors, sparked by a big day from running back Kiivone Howard and a strong defensive effort, earned that second chance they were looking for with a 27-6 victory over OA. "We needed it," Martinelli said. "Stoughton got knocked off by Sharon so it will be quite a finish here and definitely exciting." Sharon shocked Stoughton Saturday, 16-14 to remain in first place of the Davenport Division with a 2-0 record. Foxborough pulled even…
