The Foxborough High girls' tennis team loses to Hopkinton in Division 2 South finals.
The following are the tournament results for the Foxborough High athletic teams. Girls' Tennis: Foxborough lost to Hopkinton, 3-2, Saturday, in Division 2 South finals at Hopkinton High. The Warriors finished the season with 21-1. In the semifinals Thursday, Foxborough defeated Scituate, 3-0. Foxborough defeated Sharon, 3-2, Tuesday at the Brown-Bilone Tennis Club in North Easton. Foxborough defeated Bishop Stang, 4-1, Monday at the Brown/Bilore TC in North Easton in the first round. The Foxborough High National Honor Society will holding a car wash Saturday at town hall from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
1. The Burrell School will be putting on Seussical Jr. Friday, June 1 at 7 p.m., Saturday, June 2, at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. Tickets are $4. 2. Saturday, the National Honor Society is holding a car wash at town hall for a fundraising event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. 3. Both the Foxborough High boys' and girls' tennis teams will be home for the Division 2 South tournament. The boys will host Dedham Friday at 1 p.m., while the girls are the No. 1 seed in Division 1 and drew a bye. They will play either Biship Stang-Fontbonne in the first round Saturday at 3:30 p.m. 4. The Foxborough High boys' tennis team will play host to Dedham, Friday, June 1, at 3:30 p.m. in the Division 2 South tournament. Foxborough finished the season with a 10-8 record to earn the No. 15 spot in the postseason, while Dedham is the last seed at No. 18 with a 5-12 record, qualifying by virtue of their record against Division 2 opponents. The winner of the match will advance to play Hingham, Sunday, June 3, at 4 p.m. The Harbormen are the No. 2 seed at 18-1. The Foxborough High boys' tennis team defeated Norton in the last match of the regular season.
For one team, it was the end of the season, but for the other one, the season marches on. In their finale, the Norton High Lancers’ boys’ tennis team took to the courts in a nonleague matchup against the Foxborough Warriors at Norton Middle School, Friday. Despite some close matches, the Lancers’ could only muster up one win in their 4-1 defeat to the tournament-bound Warriors. “Give all the credit to the kids," said Warrior head coach Dan Damish. The Foxborough tennis teams are holding a car wash fundraiser Saturday at town hall.
1. Is your car needs a good cleaning? The Foxborough High tennis teams will be washing cars at the town hall from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday as a fundraiser. 2. The Foxborough Department of Public Works will be holding their annual Household Waste Day Collection at the highway garage, 70 Elm St., from 9 a.m. to noon. You must have proof you live in Foxborough. 3. No Foxboro Casino is holding an open house at Union Church, 384 South St., from 9 a.m. to noon. The Foxborough High boys' tennis team is off to a 2-0 start.
What a difference a year makes for the Foxborough High boys' tennis team. After losing to Norton, 4-1, a year ago, the Warriors turned the tables with a 4-1 win over the Lancers Thursday afternoon. The win gives Foxborough one of their best starts since head coach Dan Damish took over as head coach. It has also been a preview of things to come with quality play in the matches. "The kids have worked hard and it's a good start for us. It's the first time we've won two in a row since I've been here," Damish said. Things looked rough from the beginning for the Lancers after first singles player P.J. Levesque was forced to play with a broken racket against Foxborough's Wes Young.
