Local Restaurant Owner Loves the Thrill of Business at The Common's

Alfred Mazeiko, owner of The Common's Neighborhood Eatery on Central Street, says seeing the look on a customer's face after a good meal is the most satisfying part of his day.

Brockton native Alfred Mazeiko has been in the restaurant business for a long time but it was his father’s nearly 30 years of employment in Foxborough that gave him the inspiration to buy The Common’s Neighborhood Eatery on Central Street in 2002. “When we knew this place was for sale we knew we had to jump on it,” he said. The original owners started the Common’s eatery in 1992. Since Mazeiko took over, he’s been developing relationships with customers who frequent the downtown. “The regulars come in here and it’s almost like them coming into their kitchen,” he said. … “I will say we do bend over backwards for people as far as people want certain things and certain diets. Foxborough Officials Not Sold on Installing Electronic Signs on Town Common

With the signs on Foxborough’s Town Common in need of repair, Bob Russell of the Foxboro Lions Club suggested at a recent Board of Selectmen meeting to upgrade the downtown signage to electronic. “I was working with [DPW Director Roger Hill] on [the plan to repair the Town Common signs] and Roger came up with the idea to go to the electronic signs because the current signs are starting to buckle and they’re starting to get old,” Russell said. The 18-year-old signs on the Common are “tired,” according to Russell with the metal fading and beginning to chip. American Flag Reportedly Stolen from Foxborough Town Common

The American flag that flies at Foxborough’s Town Common was reportedly stolen Friday night, according to Michael Johns, Deputy Director of the Crossroads Veterans’ Services District. “I'm sad to report the U.S. flag on the Foxborough Common was stolen last night,” Johns said in an e-mail to town officials. “Upon reporting it, I was told the Fire Department was also broken into.” It is unknown at this time if anything was taken from the old Foxborough Fire Station at the corner of School and Rockhill streets. Foxborough Police Chief Edward O’Leary was unable to be reached Saturday afternoon for comment. PHOTOS: Foxborough Volunteers Send Supplies to Hurricane Sandy Victims in New York, New Jersey

Volunteers gathered on Foxborough Common Saturday to collect and deliver community donations for Hurricane Sandy victims in New York and New Jersey.

Volunteerism shined brighter than the sun on Foxborough Common Saturday as a local group of volunteers collected donations from the community and delivered them to Hurricane Sandy victims in New York and New Jersey. The group, Operation Sandy from Mass., was founded by Kris Long and consisted of many Foxborough residents, including members of the Foxboro Jaycees and the Board of Selectmen. Many involved were blown away by the generosity of those who stopped by the Common to make donations. "Great turnout," said Board of Selectmen chair James DeVellis. "It's great to see all these people come out here and help this cause." The donations varied from clothing to grills to school supplies. Operation Sandy from Mass. collected those donations …
