Foxborough's Board of Health Considering Changes to Town's Tobacco Regulations

Foxborough will be looking at their sale and penalty regulations regarding tobacco during a public hearing in June.

Foxborough's Board of Health is currently considering changes to the town’s tobacco laws. “They need some tightening up,” said Foxborough Health Director Pauline Clifford. “We’re having a hearing on June 24. We’ll discuss it that night, listen for public comment and could adopt it that evening." The board tentatively voted in favor of 10 changes to the regulations. If the draft regulation changes go into effect, they would ban vending machines and self service displays, expand all regulations to include nicotine delivery devices, ban of tobacco sales in educational institutions, ban roll your own cigarette machines and ban blunt wraps. While tobacco sales in educational institutions are now banned, health care institutions are not. The …

Wednesday, April 17: Workout World 30 Commercial St: Six-month routine tanning inspection and complaint of establishment’s babysitting room not being properly sanitized. Health Director Pauline Clifford conducted the inspection and noted the following: The Health Department received a complaint on April 12th about the babysitting room not being propery sanitized. Gaard Motel Must Fix Dozens of Health Code Violations or Face Fines, Potential Revocation of License

The owners of the motel have until April 29 to come up with a maintenance plan to fix the violations.

Foxborough health department officials will be keeping a close eye on the Gaard Motel on Route 1 after finding dozens of violations during a recent inspection. The owners of the motel - Ravi Sarin, Rikki Sarin and Shaliny Sarin - went before the Foxborough Board of Health on April 1 to review the violations and discuss what needs to be done moving forward. According to Foxborough Health Director Pauline Clifford, the violations at the motel, which include bugs in light fixtures and replacement of worn out pillows and blankets, have been an ongoing issue. At the meeting on April 1 the board decided to allow the owners to come up with a maintenance plan that would fix the violations. The owners have until April 29 to have a plan in place. “A…

Kamper’s Kitchen at Normandy Farms Ordered to Address 17 Food Code Violations

Health inspections performed in August found the seasonal concession trailer at Normandy Farms to be in violation of 17 Federal Food Code/Mass. State Sanitary Codes, including two critical violations.

Kamper's Kitchen, located in Normandy Farms at 72 West St. recently met with Foxborough's Board of Health to address 17 food code violations, two of which were considered to be "critical," according to Foxborough Health Director Pauline Clifford. Ownership of Kamper's Kitchen and Normandy Farms met with Foxborough's Board of Health on Nov. 19 following two health inspections in August that yielded violations related to improper segregation, improper hot holding/heating and cross-contamination of goods and supplies. Foxborough Board of Health Issues 'Whooping Cough' Advisory

Foxborough's Board of Health shared the advisory from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Division of Epidemiology and Immunization, which states there has been an increase in the number of cases of whooping cough in the state.

A Pertussis Advisory issued by the Foxborough Board of Health states there has been an increase in the number of cases of whooping cough statewide. There are currently no recommendations for antibiotics among classmates or other students in schools but parents and guardians should be aware of the signs and symptoms of pertussis (whooping cough), according to the advisory. "If your child has symptoms or develops symptoms, testing is recommended and five days of antibiotic treatment will be required before being able to return to school," the advisory states. Berry Yogurt Violations Not Food-Related but Issues Must be Addressed

The Foxborough Board of Health cited inexperience as the reason for Berry Yogurt’s deficiencies following inspections in July, August and October.

The Foxborough Board of Health voiced several concerns regarding operational issues at Berry Yogurt to the frozen yogurt shop’s manager, Mimi Tran, at a recent BOH meeting. The board’s chair, Paul Steeves, told Foxborough Patch none of the food code violations found at the Patriot Place frozen yogurt shop were food related and while he didn’t want to make a big deal of the violations, explained the board did express several concerns to Tran that need to be addressed within 30 days. “We did three inspections,” Steeves said. “Once in July when they opened, one in August and one just recently and they still had some [operational] violations like [documentation for shatterproof] light bulbs and [the need for an employee training booklet and a …
