Foxboro Sports Center's new addition has begun preparatory construction.
Foxborough town planner Susan Wason said the construction for the rink expansion project at the Foxboro Sports Center has begun in earnest in May. “The developer had it approved and he’s broken ground,” she said. Wason said the preparations and demolition of a building in the lot will commence in a few days. “The metal frame building sits in what will be the parking lot,” she said. “These two rows of parking are in, but the building is still sitting down. They just got the gas turned off, so they’re going to start to tear the building down and rough up the rest of the parking lot.” She added that for construction of the actual addition to the center to begin, the developer, Rich Touzos, has wait until May 23 to allow anyone to appeal the …

Foxborough's Planning Board sees no major problems in the planning process of a proposed third ice rink at the Foxboro Sports Center.
Foxboro Sports Center representatives came before the town’s Planning Board Thursday to review its plan to add a third rink to the East Belcher Road skating complex. The rink is proposed to be built adjacent to the current building where the parkin lot stands. Along with the rink, the plan will add an additional 110 parking spaces. The new lot will be built on a new parcel and will allow patrons to enter and exit from Spring Brook Road. The board’s reaction to the plan was generally positive, but some members voiced concerns regarding lighting, parking and traffic. Planning Board vice chair Bill Grieder said his main concern was the traffic and parking problems that occur during high school hockey events. “I think that we’ve heard of …

Warriors defeated the East Boston Jets, 2-0 Monday at the Foxboro Sports Center.
Winless in their last six games, the Foxborough High School hockey team was determined to end the losing Monday night in a non-league contest against visiting East Boston. The Warriors were aggressive from the opening face-off, creating countless scoring chances and controlling the puck for the majority of three periods. Their hard work was rewarded by two Aidan Hyland goals and a perfect night in net by FHS goalie Melissa Almeida enroute to a 2-0 victory over the Jets at the Foxboro Sports Center. The Warriors are now 5-8-1 on the season and will travel to Franklin on Saturday, Feb. 2 for a 6:30 p.m. game.

The two suspects have reportedly stolen money and car keys from hockey players at three area hockey rinks, including the Foxboro Sports Center.
Police are on the lookout for two male suspects who have reportedly stole money and car keys from the locker rooms of three area hockey rinks. The two men allegedly entered the Iorio Arena on Route 1 in Walpole on Sunday, Dec. 30 and stole between $200 and $300 in cash from locker rooms while hockey players were on the ice, according to Walpole police. The men were last seen wearing hooded sweatshirts and winter jackets, according to Walpole Patch. “We have them on film. They go in and out of the locker rooms and take basically just cash and nothing else,” Iorio office manager Cathy Harrop told Walpole Patch. Walpole Deputy Police Chief John Carmichael said the thieves also stole a set of car keys, which they then used to steal money from …
