Second Annual POW*MIA Remembrance Day is Sept. 22 on Foxboro Common

The Foxborough Veterans Services Department and the town's Veterans Services Advisory Committee (VSAC) will be holding the second Annual POW*MIA Remembrance Day on Saturday, Sept. 22 on the Foxboro Common.

Saturday, Sept. 22 will be a day of remembrance on Foxboro Common for military prisoners of war and military servicemen and women missing in action. The town's second annual POW*MIA Remembrance Day is organized by the Foxborough Veterans Services Department and the town's Veterans Services Advisory Committee (VSAC). Below is a preliminary program for the event:

Hundreds gathered on Foxboro Common Saturday, Sept. 8 to remember and celebrate the life of Mike McGinty, a Foxborough resident who was killed during the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

It's been 11 years this Tuesday since Foxborough resident Mike McGinty was tragically taken from his family and community during the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. Since that tragic day, however, McGinty's memory has lived on in community spirit, pride and volunteerism, highlighted by the event, McGinty Family Fun Day, which was held this past Saturday on Foxboro Common. And with the sun shining brightly on a day that many meterologists said would rain, McGinty's wife, Cindy, knew her husband had something to do with the favorable change in forecast. McGinty Family Fun Day Set for Sept. 8 on Foxboro Common

Proceeds raised from McGinty Family Fun Day will go towards the McGinty Scholarship Foundation, which is named in loving memory of Michael McGinty, who was killed during the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

Cindy McGinty and her family will return to Foxborough on Sept. 8 to hold this year’s McGinty Family Fun Day on Foxboro Common in remembrance of her husband, Michael McGinty, who was killed in the attacks at the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001 at the age of 42. Michael McGinty’s memory lives on through the annual event on Foxboro Common by offering the community an enjoyable afternoon of fun, food and community service. Entry to this year’s event is $5 per person or $20 per family. The event will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the Common. Aug. 7 is ‘National Night Out’ on Foxboro Common

Foxborough families will hit the town common on Tuesday, Aug. 7 for the "29th Annual National Night Out," a unique crime and drug prevention event.

On Tuesday, Aug. 7 the Foxborough Police Department and Foxboro Jaycees will be holding the 29th annual “National Night Out” on Foxboro Common from 6 to 9 p.m. Residents are invited to gather on the Common and participate in the national unique crime and drug prevention event. National Night Out involves over 15,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide. Last year, over 37 million people were expected to participate in ‘America’s Night Out Against Crime.’ National Night Out is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and co-sponsored locally by the Foxborough Police Department and Foxboro Jaycees. Weather Forces Thursday’s Concert on the Common to Waxy O’Connor’s

Thursday’s concert will be held from 7-9 p.m. inside Waxy O’Connor’s at 121 Main St.

The threat of severe weather, including thunderstorms this evening has forced Thursday’s Concert on the Common to be moved indoors to Waxy O’Connor’s. The Foxboro Jaycees’ concert, featuring MAGNUS and sponsored by Rodman Ford is free and all ages are welcome.
