Here’s a resident’s guide to everything you need to know about the upcoming Foxborough town election on Tuesday, April 30th.
Last May, the casino issue brought record crowds to the polls in Foxborough as 6,196 voters participated in the annual town election. That was a massive improvement over the 2011 town election, which only drew 17 percent voter turnout. On Tuesday, with two contested races – Board of Selectmen and School Committee – in the annual town election and a special state primary for U.S. Senate, voter turnout is expected to fall somewhere above the 17 percent in 2011 and below the 58 percent in 2012. Foxborough Board of Selectmen approved Town Clerk Bob Cutler Jr.’s recommendation to combine the annual town election, originally scheduled for May 6th with the state’s special U.S. Senate primary on April 30th with a 3-0 vote on Feb. 26th. Foxborough's three candidates running for two Board of Selectmen seats made their pitch to voters Thursday during the Foxboro Jaycees' annual Candidates Night at the Foxboro Cable Access Studio. Incumbents James DeVellis and Lynda Walsh were joined by challenger John Gray to issue campaign statements and answer questions from local media in hopes of convincing voters to elect them to the town's executive board April 30. Candidates' Night will be cablecast live on Foxboro Cable Access channels 8 and 39.
On Thursday, April 11, the Foxboro Jaycees will once again present Candidates’ Night, which will be cablecast LIVE on Foxboro Cable Access channels 8 and 39. All candidates on the ballot for the April 30th town election have been invited to participate. The standard question/answer format will be moderated by Jaycee Bob Gillis. Foxborough Patch Local Editor Jeremie Smith and The Foxboro Reporter staff writer Frank Mortimer will be on hand to ask the candidates questions. The Foxboro Jaycees will once again be hosting the annual event in advance of the annual town election on April 30.
The deadline for Foxborough residents to submit nomination papers to the Town Clerk's Office and be certified as official ballot candidates for the April 30 annual town election is Monday, March 18 (click here to see the complete list of candidates running for town offices). Foxboro Cable Access recently upgraded its equipment with the purchase and deployment of six new high defnition JVC HM150U camcorders; giving residents access to the latest in HD technology, as well as a simplified (tapeless) workflow. The six cameras replace 10-year-old standard definition cameras and are available to all Foxborough residents producing content for air on the community channels. As a result of the new equipment, Foxboro Cable Access is holding a two-part workshop teaching how to use the cameras and use Final Cut Pro X software to speed up your editing. Foxborough DPW Director Roger Hill and the town’s Water & Sewer Commissioners joined resident Shannon Sylvia’s Foxboro Cable Access program, Foxboro Biz, to discuss the town’s brown water problems.

A Foxborough family has created an informational video to educate the town's residents on the proposed Inter-Municipal (Regional) Wastewater Treatment Plant. Foxborough's Shannon, Dustin and Wayne Sylvia, along with the help of friend, Joanne Hensas and in cooperation with Foxboro Cable Access created the video.

Foxborough’s Board of Selectmen recognized Masison for his 11 years of service at Foxboro Cable Access and longtime involvement in the community with a gold microphone at Tuesday's meeting.
For the past 11 years, Charlie Masison has brought residents “behind the scenes” of many local operations in Foxborough as the host of his own Foxboro Cable Access TV program that produced over 600 episodes. The Masison era came to an end last month when the local TV personality hosted his last episode of “Behind the Scenes” on Foxboro Cable Access. I watched the Foxborough Candidates Forums last evening. Very enlightening, truely a must see for all Foxborough voters that have a desire to be informed before going to the polls. The highlight of the evening was the ending,,, looks like the Jaycees and the FCA got "pranked" or "had".
