Marilyn Rodman, who passed away on May 13, was a passionate philanthropist in the area for many years and married to Don Rodman, the President of Rodman Ford Sales, Inc. of Foxborough for over 60 years.

Marilyn Rodman, 79, of Canton, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and well-known philanthropist, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2013 at Orchard Cove in Canton. She was the beloved wife of Don Rodman, President of Rodman Ford Sales, Inc. of Foxborough, with whom she shared over 60 years of marriage. Born in the Roxbury section of Boston, Marilyn was a longtime resident of Canton where she immersed herself in the community. She served on the Canton School Committee for 22 years working on many programs including the Blue Hills Collaborative, a program at the Blue Hills for special-education children, the “Mutual Concerns” school …

In collaboration with Rodman Ford, Temple Beth Abraham in Canton, is holding a raffle for an open-end two-year lease of a new 2012 Red Ford Mustang. The winner may also be eligible to take a cash payout of up to $10,000. Ticket sales are under way and it will be ending June 2, 2012. Each ticket is $100 and only a limited number are available as no more than 400 will be sold. The winner will be announced at a gala event for the synynagogue founders, however, the winner does not have to be present. Help support at-risk children in Massachusetts by participating in Rodman's Ride for Kids this September.
The 21st Rodman's Ride for Kids will take place in Foxborough on September 24th. The Ride is a non-competitive cycling tour, devoted to raising money for at-risk children in Massachusetts. The money that is raised from the event is donated to youth-focused social service agencies in hopes to improve the lives and support for the children in this population. As of July 6th, $6,732.00 has already been raised through general donations, teams and individuals. You can participate in the event as an individual with dedication to fundraise $1,500.00 dollars, or with a team of up to 45 riders in effort to raise $75,000.00. School on Wheels members met Thursday afternoon for ice cream and to discuss the upcoming charity bike ride.
Even though the ride isn't until September 24, the School on Wheels team is already getting into gear. Members from School on Wheels of Massachusetts gathered at Hilliards House of CandyWednesday evening to eat ice cream and plan for their upcoming participation in the Rodman Ride for Kids. Hilliards owner Nelson Fernandes allowed the organizers into his business and even provided free ice cream. Fernadndes is a friend of School on Wheels Board Member Ted Myles. "Nelson and I are friends," Myles said. "If you can't hit up a friend for free ice cream, who can you hit up?" Don Rodman, philanthropic hero, turns 80 today!
Happy 80th birthday Don Rodman! Today, May 20, is not only a celebration of Don Rodman's birthday but it is also as a celebration of a local hero. Rodman, a household name in Massachusetts, opened his first Ford dealership in Foxborough in 1960. His automobile growth exploded from that point marking significant milestones for the company including the 2001 grand opening of the state-of-the-art Ford store and Quick Lane on Route One. Along with Rodman's passionate commitment to his automobile empire, is his passion for philanthropic endeavors.
