Northeast wind 8 to 14 mph. Monday night: Increasing clouds, with a low around 36. Northeast wind 6 to 9 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Beginning Monday, April 22, the Foxborough Water Department will be conducting nighttime hydrant flushing from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., weather permitting. Foxborough Water Department to Begin Flushing Hydrants on April 22

Foxborough Water Department will be conducting a nighttime hydrant flushing program beginning on Monday, April 22 from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., weather permitting.

The Foxborough Water Department will begin an aggressive schedule to flush hydrants on Monday, April 22 to remove iron and manganese buildup - which produces brown water in the system – from the water mains. Water Department Superintendent Robert Worthley said removal of this buildup “is essential for the long-term solution” to the brown water issues many residents have been experiencing in town. In an effort to better communicate the potential for brown water with residents, Worthley reached out to local media and has set up notices on the town website (click here). “Communication is key and we are trying much harder to get the message out to residents to keep them informed of what’s going on,” Worthley said. Foxborough DPW Director Roger Hill and the town’s Water & Sewer Commissioners joined resident Shannon Sylvia’s Foxboro Cable Access program, Foxboro Biz, to discuss the town’s brown water problems.

Acknowledging that Foxborough residents need answers regarding the town’s problems with brown water, DPW Director Roger Hill and the Board of Water & Sewer Commissioners recently appeared on a Foxboro Cable Access program to discuss the issue. Water Main Break the Latest Problem for Chestnut Street Residents

A water main on Chestnut Street near Cocasset Street broke Wednesday evening, leaving some Foxborough residents without water.

As if hikes in water and sewer rates and brown water problems weren't enough, Foxborough residents along Chestnut Street had to deal with a water main break Wednesday evening. A water main on just past the Putnam Village leasing office and before the stop sign at Cocasset Street broke shortly before 4 p.m. Wednesday, leaving some residents in the area without water. "There [was] a water main break on Chestnut Street and as a result there’s an interruption in the water pressure," Mayfair Realty said on its _Facebook page_. The local company warned residents of their communities to expect discolored water as a result of the break. Foxborough DPW Director: Brown Water is Expensive Problem; ‘Will Take Years to Fix’

Foxborough DPW Director Roger Hill says the town's brown water is aesthetically displeasing but otherwise safe; calls the issue an expensive problem that will take years to fix.

Foxborough Department of Public Works Director Roger Hill has heard the complaints of brown water in town and can relate to the frustrations voiced by residents fed up with “dirty water.” “I’ve had my share of laundry ruined by [brown water],” Hill said. “I have very few white t-shirts left.” Hill said most of the brown water complaints in town have come from the Chestnut Street, Park Street, Mechanic Street and South Street area and while the dirty water ruins laundry and is “aesthetically displeasing,” it does not pose any risks to one’s health. “It is safe water,” Hill said. “The brown is a mixture of red and black from iron and manganese. … It’s not dangerous, it’s not a health risk; it’s a problem because [of the color and its stain …
