Around Town: Food Code and Liquor License Violations, Thanksgiving Football and Holiday Events

The following meetings and events will be held in Foxborough this week: Monday, Nov. 19: Board of Registrars, 11 a.m., Town Clerk’s Office of Town Hall: The Board of Registrars will meet to tally absentee ballots. Stadium Advisory Committee, 5:30 p.m., Andrew Gala Meeting Room of Town Hall: The Stadium Advisory Committee will meet to review a new application for licensed use of Gillette Stadium. Foxborough Selectmen to Issue Restaurant Liquor License to Asian Ginger

The Foxborough Board of Selectmen voted 4-0 to approve Asian Ginger’s request for a wine and malt restaurant license at its 70 Central St. location.

Asian Ginger will now be allowed to serve wine and beer with meals at its 70 Central St. establishment after Foxborough’s Board of Selectmen approved the business’ request for a wine and malt restaurant license. The license, which was approved by a 4-0 vote, will be issued to Asian Ginger on the following condition: Selectman Virginia Coppola recused herself from Tuesday’s public hearing because she owns property that abuts the Central Street restaurant. Asian Ginger opened in May 2012, replacing Friendly’s, which closed last October. Foxborough Board of Selectmen chair James DeVellis said he has had dinner at the restaurant, describing the food as “good” and the establishment as family oriented. “You go in there to eat,” DeVellis said. “…

What, a 30-40 person sit down restaurant downtown with no bar, vs. a potential liquor store in the parking lot of a 70,000 seat sports/concert/events stadium with a long history of alcohol related problems. Nothing to wonder about at all.   more ›

Foxborough Selectmen Bring Back Gelerman as Town Counsel

The Foxborough Board of Selectmen agreed to rehire attorney Richard Gelerman and his firm, Gelerman and Cabral, LLC as town counsel. Gelerman has 30 years of experience as town counsel in Foxborough.

A familiar face is returning to Foxborough as town counsel after the Board of Selectmen voted unanimously Tuesday to enter contract negotiations with attorney Richard “Dick” Gelerman and his law firm, Gelerman and Cabral, LLC. This is hardly a new business venture for either side. Gelerman served Foxborough for nearly 30 years as town counsel before leaving in 2008. Four years later, it was Gelerman’s experience and familiarity with the town that made him and his firm the top choice to replace attorney Paul DeRenis of Deutsch Williams, who has been serving as Town Counsel since Gelerman’s departure. “[Gelerman] probably knows more history [about Foxborough] than anyone in this room,” said Foxborough selectman Lynda Walsh at Tuesday’s …
