60 Donors Give Blood in Foxborough to Boost Brigham and Women's Blood Supply

This drive was especially important in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings.

To mark National Volunteer Week, the Brigham and Women’s/Dana Farber Blood Mobile visited Foxborough on April 25th. Over 60 donors, made up of business leaders, healthcare staff, patients, and the general public, turned out at this important drive, which replenishes the blood supply at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. This was especially important in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings.

Boston Marathon Tragedy Reinforces Need for Blood; Drive to be Held at Patriot Place on April 25th

Brigham and Women's/Mass General Health Care Center to host blood drive at Patriot Place on April 25th.

The Brigham and Women’s/Mass General Health Care Center at Patriot Place will host a blood drive on Thursday, April 25 from 9:30 a.m to 3 p.m. on the Patriot Place concourse next to the Brigham and Women’s/Mass General Health Care Center. Blood donations will be taken inside the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Brigham and Women’s Hospital Blood Mobile near Gillette Stadium’s Bank of America gate.   All who are planning to donate on April 25th are encouraged to schedule their blood donation appointment for that day. Foxborough Man Surprises Son with Patriots Tickets He Won Giving Blood

Foxborough resident Paul Currie was one of five blood donors to win Patriots playoff tickets after participating in Dunkin' Donuts sixth annual "Give a Pint, Get a Pound" campaign last week at Patriot Place.

Foxborough resident Paul Currie realized the importance of giving blood several years ago when his daughter had a major surgery. “I realized giving blood is something we all need to do,” Currie said. "[It is] easy and the benefits for others are priceless.” Currie, 52, was off from work last week when he heard about an American Red Cross blood drive happening at Patriot Place. “I decided I would do my part,” Currie said of participating in last Thursday’s Dunkin’ Donuts sixth annual “Give a Pint, Give a Pound” campaign. As part of the event at Patriot Place, five lucky donors would win two tickets apiece to Sunday’s AFC Divisional Round playoff game between the New England Patriots and Houston Texans at Gillette Stadium.
