Two Chestnut Street residents write in to extend their thanks and appreciation to everyone at Foxborough’s DPW for the hard work and tireless efforts of the town’s workers.
To the Foxborough DPW workers, We moved to Chestnut Street this past November and just experienced our first major snowstorm in Foxborough we would like to extend our sincerest thanks to each and every one of you for your efforts during – and after – the Blizzard of 2013. While we were waiting out the 29 inches of snow from the warmth of our home, you were all out there keeping up with the blizzard in cold and dangerous conditions. You have worked day and night with little to no rest for over three days just so people like us can get out of our homes and onto the roads. The Blizzard of 2013 may force Foxborough schools to close Monday but no official decision has been made, according to Superintendent Debra Spinelli.
NOTE: No official decision has been regarding the status of Foxborough Public Schools opening – or closing – Monday. This report summarizes the discussion town officials have held with department heads regarding the topic. UPDATE (5:08 p.m.; Feb. 9) - Foxborough Schools Superintendent Debra Spinelli reiterated Saturday afternoon that no decision regarding the status of school for Monday has been made and there likely won't be an announcement until some time Sunday. Foxborough officials received an update via conference call just after 5 p.m. Friday on how the town is managing Blizzard 2013.
As Foxborough Town Manager heard updates from Police Chief Edward O’Leary, Deputy Fire Chief Steven Bagley and National Grid Liaison Tom Coughlin regarding Friday’s blizzard, the message was clear: “So far, so good,” Paicos said. Over a dozen town officials and department heads were on the conference call just after 5 p.m. Friday. Here’s the most recent update of the town’s condition provided by public safety officials and department heads: Foxborough Police Say ‘Not Much Happening’ “There haven’t been any real significant calls,” O’Leary said. “The bulk of the community is paying attention to the Governor’s order about the 4 p.m. shutdown [and staying off the roads].
