After two snow days from the Blizzard of 2013, Foxborough Public School students will be returning to class Tuesday, Feb. 12.

The snow-filled, four-day weekend caused by the Blizzard of 2013 ends for Foxborough students Monday as schools will reopen Tuesday. "Foxborough schools will repoen [Tuesday]," said Foxborough Schools Superintendent Debra Spinelli. Schools were closed Friday, Feb. 8 and Monday, Feb. 11 as result of the weekend blizzard that slammed the town with 29 inches of snow. Students will be in school for four days before the start of February vacation (Feb. 18-22).

I am not happy with school resuming tomorrow since none of the sidewalks around the Ahern middle school are plowed. How is my son supposed to walk home without sidewalks on Mechanic Street, a major, busy road?   more ›

Foxborough BOS Chair Thanks DPW for Exhaustive Storm Cleanup Efforts

Foxborough Board of Selectmen chair James DeVellis took time Monday to thank the town’s DPW for their efforts during and after Blizzard 2013 and asks residents to show respect for these employees.

As 29 inches of snow fell on Foxborough over the weekend, it was the exhaustive efforts of the town’s DPW workers that helped minimize problems during the Blizzard of 2013. For those efforts, Foxborough’s Board of Selectmen chair James DeVellis took time Monday to publicly thank the DPW for all they did during the storm and all they continue to do in its aftermath to return Foxborough to normalcy. “I am proud for Foxborough of the hard work and diligence that our DPW and emergency personnel showed all through the storm and thank their families as they gave first priority to our town,” DeVellis said. DeVellis, who met with the DPW early Monday morning, said the crews “are very tired but upbeat” to finish work that began Friday morning and …

What People Are Saying About the Plowing in Foxborough After Blizzard 2013

How did the town handle the Blizzard of 2013?

Blizzard 2013 produced the region's fifth largest snowstorm in history, yet Foxborough reported very few problems from the two-day storm. For the first time in over a year, a major storm in town did not result in massive power outages. In fact, this weekend’s blizzard produced zero outages – only flickering lights on Saturday night. That was the good news. The bad was Foxborough was part of the "jackpot" area for snowfall in Massachusetts, accumulating 29 inches in town, according to the National Weather Service. That record amount of snowfall left a massive mess for the town's DPW to clean up. Workers hit the roads Friday and plowed day and night through Sunday, taking short breaks to sleep and eat, according to DPW Director Roger Hill. …

Paicos: 'Don't Be an Idiot During Blizzard'

Foxborough Town Manager Kevin Paicos says he expects most residents to stay off the roads during Friday's storm but believes there will be "some idiots."

Foxborough Town Manager Kevin Paicos says most of the town will take Friday’s blizzard seriously and stay home and off the roads. “If it is as bad as they say I don’t think anybody is moving on the roads by 8 p.m.,” Paicos said. “I don’t think people will be able to get to and from their homes.” But then there are just some people who are cavalier to caution. “People are not going to be on the roads unless they are complete idiots,” Paicos said. … “Expect the normal drop off in human behavior that come from these events.” The town departments and agencies met Friday morning to outline Foxborough’s emergency preparedness plan for the blizzard. “Sounds like we are really prepared,” Paicos said. “Nothing prepares you like experience and God …
