Foxborough Girls’ Lax Earns 6th Seed in MIAA D2 South State Tourney

Warriors will host a first round game Tuesday against the winner of Saturday’s Dedham at Ashland match.

The state’s high school girls’ lacrosse tournament pairings are out and Foxborough has earned the sixth seed with a 17-2-1 record this season. As a result, the Warriors will host a first round MIAA Division 2 South Sectional State Tournament game on Tuesday at 4 p.m. against the winner of Saturday’s No. 22 Dedham at No. 11 Ashland match. For the second consecutive season, Foxborough won the Hockomock League Davenport Division title and fields an offense that features two career 100-goal scorers in Katie Notarangelo and Ellen Decker. Foxborough finished the regular season on a 6-1-1 run. The Warriors did not face Dedham in the regular season but traveled to Ashland and defeated the Clockers, 12-8 on May 8th. Foxborough Boys’ Lax Earns 17th Seed in MIAA D2 East State Tourney

Warriors will travel to Walpole for a preliminary round game Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Despite a strong regular season, the Foxborough High School boys’ lacrosse team is seeded 17th in the upcoming MIAA Division 2 East Sectional state tournament as a result of three forfeits for the use of an ineligible player in April. Foxborough (12-7) will travel to No. 16 Walpole (11-7) Tuesday in a preliminary round game next week. Game time is slated for 5 p.m. Foxborough finished the season in second place of the Hockomock League Davenport Division with a 10-2 league record – one game behind league champion Canton (11-1). Foxborough would have finished the season 15-4 if it was not for the MIAA ruling in April that took away non-league wins against Bishop Feehan (2) and Reading. Several Foxborough High School students participated in the National Anthem for the May 8th New England Revolution game at Gillette Stadium.

Foxborough High School was represented by several sign language students at Gillette Stadium prior to the start of the May 8th MLS match between the New England Revolution and Real Salt Lake. The local students were on the field signing the national anthem during the pre-game ceremonies.

UMass Football Returning to Foxborough in 2013

Six college football games will be played at Gillette Stadium this fall.

UMass football is returning to Foxborough this fall for the second year of a three-year commitment to use Gillette Stadium while the Minutemen's new stadium is constructed in Amherst.  Foxborough's Board of Selectmen approved the stadium license request at Tuesday's meeting subject to the following conditions: UMass is scheduled to play six home games at Gillette Stadium in 2013, up from five games last season. Games will be held on Saturdays from September to November with the home opener slated for Sept. 7th against Maine. The Minutemen's home schedule for the 2013 season is as follows: Games are scheduled to begin at noon or 3:30 p.m. and anticipated attendance is around 15,000. Fans Elect Tedy Bruschi to New England Patriots Hall of Fame

Bruschi will join Gil Santos as the Patriots Hall of Fame Class of 2013 and will be inducted during a public ceremony on Sunday, Aug. 11th outside The Hall at Patriot Place Presented by Raytheon.

The New England Patriots announced Tuesday former linebacker Tedy Bruschi has been voted by fans as the 19th player and 21st member to enter the Patriots Hall of Fame. Bruschi will join Gil Santos, the Voice of the New England Patriots, at an induction ceremony during training camp that is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 11. The induction ceremony is open to the public and Patriots fans are encouraged to attend. Bruschi will also be honored during a halftime ceremony at the 2013 home opener when the Patriots host the New York Jets on Thursday, Sept. 12. Former Patriot Matt Light Mingles with Local Students at Southeastern

Former Patriots offensive tackle Matt Light on head coach Bill Belichick: "He rarely smiles, but he does laugh."

Former Patriots offensive lineman Matt Light was at Southeastern Regional in Easton Wednesday morning promoting his nonprofit, the Light Foundation. Light took time to mingle with some students and talk about the upcoming cornhole tournament at Gillette Stadium to support his foundation.

Construction of Foxboro Sports Center Rink Expansion Begins

Foxboro Sports Center's new addition has begun preparatory construction.

Foxborough town planner Susan Wason said the construction for the rink expansion project at the Foxboro Sports Center has begun in earnest in May. “The developer had it approved and he’s broken ground,” she said. Wason said the preparations and demolition of a building in the lot will commence in a few days. “The metal frame building sits in what will be the parking lot,” she said. “These two rows of parking are in, but the building is still sitting down. They just got the gas turned off, so they’re going to start to tear the building down and rough up the rest of the parking lot.” She added that for construction of the actual addition to the center to begin, the developer, Rich Touzos, has wait until May 23 to allow anyone to appeal the …

Fans at CBS Scene React to Bruins' Game 7 Comeback Miracle Monday

The Boston Bruins came back from a 4-1 third period deficit in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals Monday to beat the Toronto Maple Leafs, 5-4 , in overtime. Here's what the win looked like 29 miles south in Foxborough.

Monday's improbable comeback win by the Boston Bruins in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals sent fans everywhere in a frenzy ... including Foxborough. CBS Scene at Patriot Place caught some of the local reaction on camera (as seen in the video above) after Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron beat Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender James Reimer in overtime to cap the 5-4 miracle comeback from a three-goal deficit in the third period.  Several of Foxborough's businesses immediately took to Facebook to rejoice in the thrilling Game 7 win: Jake n Joe's Sports Grille: "WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" PHOTOS: Ellen Decker Nets 100th Career Goal; Foxborough Girls' Lax Win on Senior Day

Seniors lead Foxborough girls' lacrosse to a 14-6 win over Milford Monday.

Senior Day was extra special for Foxborough's Ellen Decker Monday as the girls' lacrosse captain netted her 100th career goal in a 14-6 victory over Milford at State Hospital Field. Decker's milestone goal came just 10 days after teammate Katie Notarangelo scored her 100th career goal in a 13-3 victory over King Philip. Prior to Monday's game, Foxborough honored its nine seniors: Walsh recorded a team-high four goals and Lynch stopped eight shots in net as the Warriors won their 13th game of the season and now hold a 9-1 record in the Hockomock League. With just three games remaining in the regular season, Foxborough (13-2, 9-1) holds a two-game lead over Canton (6-3) for the Davenport Division lead.
