Third Annual POW*MIA Remembrance Day is Sept. 21 on Foxboro Common

Foxboro will remember those who were taken prisoner and lost during war with a special ceremony Saturday afternoon at the common.

The town's third annual POW*MIA Remembrance Day is organized by the Foxborough Veterans Services Department and the town's Veterans Services Advisory Committee (VSAC). Below is the program for the event:

  • The ceremony will start at 4 p.m. with the circling of the common by Rolling Thunder and Legion Riders.
  • Selectmen chairman Mark Sullivan will deliver the opening remarks.
  • Pastor Dan Richter of Church of Emmanuel will perform the invocation.
  • Jack Authelet, Foxborough Town Historian will lead the Salute to the Flag and Emily Johnson will perform the National Anthem.
  • The introduction of dignitaries includes Senator James Timilty, Representative Jay Barrows, and the Foxborough Board of Selectmen.
  • Raymond Brennan Family, WWII POW and Morris Chisholm Family, WWII. POW will be introduced as the POW/MIA Family Members
  • The main speakers are Jack Authelet and Mike Johns, Foxborough Director of Veterans Services.
  • The Missing Man Table Narration will be read by Christopher Johns.
  • Joseph D’Entremont, the President of MA-1 Rolling Thunder will present the POW/MIA flag to the selectmen.
  • Pastor Justin Campbell of River Community Church will perform the Benediction 
  • The program will end with Echo Taps
Starting on Sept. 20 at 4 p.m., a 24-hour vigil to remember those who were POWs and MIA will be held at the common.
