Hockomock Area YMCA and Stop & Shop Continue to Help Improve Childhood Wellness

The Hockomock Area YMCA Healthy Futures Initiative and Stop & Shop SHAPE UP! Mini-Grants Program are announcing their plan on Oct. 26 for future collaboration and grant funding to the 15 area communities served by the Y.

Stop & Shop and the Hockomock Area YMCA are committed to changing the course of childhood health and obesity through increased access to healthy eating and play, with an emphasis on curricula that help children improve their knowledge, skills and habits around nutrition and exercise.

A Healthy Futures forum will be held from 7:30am - 9:00am Wednesday at the Foxboro Hockomock YMCA branch and will include:

  • Update on the State of Childhood Health in Massachusetts
  • "Stories from the Field" from 2011 Mini-Grants Award Recipients (based out of Foxboro and North Attleboro)
  • Special announcement from Mark McGowan the Stop & Shop New England Division President

Hockomock Area YMCA Officials Ed Hurley (President) and Jeanne Sherlock (VP of Healthy Living), Stop & Shop New England Division President Mark McGowan and 2011 Mini-grant awardees from the towns of Foxboro and North Attleboro will be present at the forum.
