Former Patriots Quarterback Grogan to 'Roast' Retired Sharon AD Sondheim

A former New England Patriots quarterback will be visiting nearby Sharon on Sept. 23 to pay tribute – and roast – a retired athletic director from the Davenport Division of the Hockomock League.

Retired Sharon Athletic Director Robert Sondheim will be roasted at a Sunday morning breakfast, Sept. 23 at 9 a.m. at Saphire Estate in Sharon. Sondheim was part in the Foxboro Cable TV high school football broadcasts in the 1980s and 1990s.

Among the many speakers at the event will be Ron Sanders, former correspondent for WBZ Channel 4 and former Patriot's quarterback Steve Grogan. David Clifton will emcee the live event, which will also will  feature musical entertainment and a catered breakfast.

Sondheim touched many lives during his 11 years as athletic director and as Sharon's swim coach – leading teams and athletic programs that competed in the same division with Foxborough High School. Tickets are $25 and funds raised will help create a scholarship for students pursuing a sports broadcasting career.

Canned goods and non-perishable food items will also be collected for donation to the Ilsa Marks Food Pantry in Stoughton. Tickets must be purchased in advance and are available at the Sharon Community Center or by contacting Ralph Generazzo at (781) 784-8427, 414 N. Main St., Sharon, MA 02067.
