Summer Camp Guide for Foxborough Area
Enrollment is starting soon for many summer camps. Here's a selection of summer camps in Massachusetts.
With the choice and variety of summer camps available in New England in 2013, boredom won't be an option.
Organizations, from the YMCA to your local parks and recreation department, offer dozens of camp choices for recreation, science, reading, sports, music and more.
Whether you're looking for an all-around experience or a more focused camp, this list can easily launch your camp search with examples in your town and surrounding areas.
Camp Wapawca (Grades 1-5)

Dates: One week, four-day, three-day
Details: With A Positive Attitude We Can Achieve. This wonderful and exciting camp gives school-age campers the opportunity to enjoy traditional camp activities such as sports, active games, arts and crafts, water games, swimming, archery, and other special electives as well as to go on adventurous field trips (1st grade does not go on field trips, 2nd and 3rd go on Wednesdays, and 4th and 5th on Tuesdays and Thursdays).
Junior Wapawca (Ages 3-5)
Location: Invensys Foxboro YMCA Branch
Type: Traditional camp
Dates: One week, half-day, full-day
Details: Give your youngster a taste of what camp is all about. Join us for fun and adventure in our traditional camp for the preschool- age child. The Junior WAPAWCA camp program allows first-time campers to make new friends while experiencing wonderful, enriching camp activities. Campers will participate in sports, field games, arts and crafts, cooking, music, nature activities, and Family Zone activities. Children also will have opportunities for swimming and water play. The groups will be divided out by age and will follow a 1:5 ratio to ensure a fun and safe environment. Children must be potty-trained.

New Horizons Wapawca (Grades 1-6)
Location: Invensys Foxboro YMCA Branch
Type: Traditional camp
Dates: One week, four-day, three-day
Details: This is a full-day program for children who are able to and would like to attend a full-day traditional camp but may require additional support, accommodations, or modifications to ensure a successful day. Campers in this program will also benefit from additional consistent staff support in a smaller camper to counselor ratio, typically 3:1. New Horizons campers are placed in a village tribe in a fully integrated setting with increased support.

Super Sports Camp (Grades 1-7)
Location: Invensys Foxboro YMCA Branch
Type: Sports camp
Dates: One week
Details: Campers will focus on a different sport each day and learn basic skills through drills and games. Sports will include soccer, basketball, and flag football; whiffle ball, and other non- traditional sports such as kickball and dodge ball. Campers will also get a chance to cool off in our new swimming pool. Campers will be divided into appropriate age groups.

Sports Field Trip Camp (Grades 2-7)
Location: Invensys Foxboro YMCA Branch
Type: Sports camp
Dates: One week
Details: This camp will include a sports field trip Monday through Friday. Come join other campers as you travel to Fenway Park, a Paw Sox Game, Gillette Stadium, and much more. Campers should bring a bagged lunch and bring any money they may need for gift shops and concession stands.

Flag Football Camp (Grades 1-6)
Location: Invensys Foxboro YMCA Branch
Type: Sports camp
Dates: One week
Details: This week-long camp will include drills, skills, and daily contests such as quarterback challenge, punt, pass, and kick, and a flag football tournament. Prepare for the upcoming Fall NFL Flag Football League with this great camp. Campers will be divided into age appropriate groups. If schedule permits, campers will attend a New England Patriots training session. This camp will be held off-site.

LIT: Leader-In-Training (Grades 7-8)
Location: Invensys Foxboro YMCA Branch
Type: Teen camp
Dates: Three-week
Details: The LIT program helps prepare seventh and eighth graders for the challenges of everyday life. In their own peer group, the LIT camper will learn positive values and leadership attributes through service learning, adventure programming, and first aid. Campers will enhance their skills and knowledge by way of planning events for the younger campers. This year we will operate three 3-week sessions. Each interested candidate must fill out an application, which can be found at the Member Service Desk. Registration is limited to one session per participant. All participants must schedule an interview with our Teen Director to enroll in the LIT Program (first session begins Week 2, June 24).

CIT: Counselor-In-Training (Grades 9-10)
Location: Invensys Foxboro YMCA Branch
Type: Teen camp
Dates: Six-week
Details: The CIT program is for those interested in learning to work in the camp setting. CITs will participate in courses designed to teach camp tradition in a new and exciting way as well as gaining hands-on experience to develop the skills necessary to become
a future Hockomock Area YMCA camp counselor. CITs must commit to a minimum of six weeks which must include week two. Week two is mandatory due to training and orientation. Those interested must fill out a CIT application.

Voyager Camp
Location: Invensys Foxboro YMCA Branch
Type: Teen camp
Dates: One-week
Details: This camp is for those entering grades six through nine who are looking for an excellent opportunity to be exposed to a variety of experiences throughout the summer. Voyager campers will participate in one service initiative per week, as well as plan their own day trips based on a preset budget. Past trips have included, but are not limited to Lazer Tag, rock-climbing, and the beach.

New Horizons Teen Village (Grade 6 and Up)
Location: Invensys Foxboro YMCA Branch
Type: Teen camp
Dates: One-week
Details: New Horizons Teen Village is a half-day, afternoon camp for teens with special needs. Campers will travel in a coed group from activity to activity thought the afternoon. This integrated camp pairs New Horizons campers with the Leaders-In-Training program for traditional camp experiences while providing opportunities for appropriate social interaction. Focus is on having fun through activities, games, swim, building friendships, and increasing social skills. There is a 3:1 camper to staff ratio for increased support.

Type: Traditional overnight camp
Dates: 3 week, 4 week, full season
Details: Established in 1937, and owned and directed by the Hoch Family since 1960, Watitoh is an overnight camp for children, ages 7-16, who like to take part in an active program of land and water sports, creative and performing arts and outdoor hiking and camping.

Details: This core computer camp program is for 8-17 year olds and balances technology learning with fun summer camp activities in two-week sessions.
