Patriot Place Bringing Fireworks Spectacular to Foxborough on July 3

The fireworks spectacular will mark culmination of activities surrounding the Harvard Pilgrim Finish at the 50 at Patriot Place on July 3.

Patriot Place is bringing a first-of-its-kind fireworks display to Foxborough in celebration of Independence Day.

Foxborough's shopping, dining and entertainment destination will be the site of Fireworks Spectacular on Tuesday, July 3 – beginning at 9 p.m. – to culminate a two-day festival celebrating Independence Day. 

Patriot Place has scheduled a full lineup of free family activities surrounding the Harvard Pilgrim Finish at the 50, a 5K and 10K road race at Patriot Place on Tuesday, July 3. The events will build up to a first-of-its-kind fireworks spectacular above Patriot Place that is free and open to the public and will be accompanied by a musical score broadcast by Dean College Radio.

The festivities kick-off on Monday, July 2 when Patriot Place will host a sand sculpting demonstration, bounce houses, airbrush tattoos and live music, among other free activities. On July 3, even more free activities, including stilt walkers and appearances by celebrity runners, will build up to the Harvard Pilgrim Finish at the 50, which is expected to draw more than 5,000 participants. Following the 5K and 10K, which begin at 6 p.m., Patriot Place will host a fireworks show at 9 p.m. The display will last for more than 20 minutes, the same length as Boston’s annual Fourth of July fireworks and will be accompanied by a musical score available by tuning into Dean College Radio, Power 88 FM, at 88.3 FM, or streaming online at www.power883.org. Families can watch the fireworks show from inside Patriot Place’s North Marketplace or from the parking lots around Patriot Place.

The Harvard Pilgrim Finish at the 50 boasts a 5K course that includes the Gillette Stadium concourses and ramps, as well as views of surrounding towns from the top of the stadium, before finishing at the stadium’s 50-yard line. The 10K course begins at Patriot Place and winds through the streets of Foxborough before returning to Patriot Place and finishing on the Gillette Stadium field.

The event also includes a Harvard Pilgrim Health and Fitness Expo at Patriot Place and a Kids Fun Run on the Gillette Stadium field. For information about the Harvard Pilgrim Finish at the 50, visit www.harvardpilgrimfinishatthe50.com.

Monday, July 2:

Sand Sculpting with Sean; 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Outside of The Renaissance Hotel: Watch in amazement as the world renowned sculptor turns 10 tons of sand into a fully detailed work of art.

Diggers and Dozers Sand Playspace; 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Outside of The Renaissance Hotel: Stop by and enjoy the sand play space where sand pails, diggers and dozers await for you to create the next great sandcastle.

 

Bounce House Fun; Noon to 2 p.m.; Outside of Tastings Wine Bar and Bistro: Enjoy great views of Gillette Stadium as the kids bounce the day away. Dates and times for this activity are subject to change. Bounce houses are weather permitting.

 

Harvard Pilgrim Fitness Expo; 2-7 p.m.; Throughout the North Marketplace: Explore this unique fitness expo showcasing vendors and products in the Patriot Place North Marketplace.

 

 

Risky Business Band performs live from 4-5:30 p.m. on The Patriot Place Stage: The Risky Business Band is creating a buzz all over the South Shore and in Boston. Playing rock, funk, fusion, jazz and blues RBB has recently took “Top Band” at the Music On Up Showcase at The Hard Rock in Boston and have been featured at many venues throughout New England.

 

 

Runners Pre-Race Meal; 4-7 p.m.: Participating restaurants will provide select free menu items to registered race participants. Show your Bib number at one of the “Pre-Race Meal Sponsors” and enjoy.

 

 

Tattoo Airbrush Artist 5-7 p.m. Outside of Old NavyThese colorful tattoos last two to three days and are sure to make you look cool. Choose from dozens of designs to adorn your body — from tribal bands to flowers.

 

 

Third Stone Band performs live at the Patriot Place Stage 6–7 p.m.: Comprised of four outstanding musicians, Third Stone makes every show unforgettable. With top notch performance skills, record professionalism, a rock out mentality and a great fan base, they have become a favorite at numerous venues all over New England.

 

 

Matt Borrello and the Quality Dogs perform live from 7:30-9 p.m. on The Patriot Place Stage: Matt Borrello and the Quality Dogs present a wide-ranging and energetic mix of Rock, Folk, and Blues, including fresh original songs and time-tested hits. Audiences are often surprised and delighted that such a young band can capture the spirit of classic rock and roll.

Face Painting brought to you by the Patriot Place Activity Center; 1-2 p.m.: Visit the Patriot Place Activity Center where face painter Susana is sure to make you look cool. Choose from dozens of designs. The Patriot Place Activity Center is located across from Kidville and Charming Charlie in the North Retail.

 

Kidville Rockin' Railroad; 2-4 p.m. at the Patriot Place Stage: Rockin’ Railroad children’s performance brought to you by Kidville.

 

Celebrity Appearance – Bill Rogers; 3:30-4:30 p.m. at the Kids Fun Run: Meet four-time winner of the Boston Marathon, Bill Rogers, at the Kids Fun.

 

Celebrity Appearance – Team Hoyt; 3:30-4:40 p.m. near the Patriot Place Stage: Meet the inspirational Hoyts at their booth near the Patriot Place Stage.

 

Kids Fun Run; 3:30-5 p.m. On the Gillette Stadium Field: This exciting race to promote physical fitness in our youngest runners is for runners 12 and under. Bring your young runners and toddlers to the Gillette Stadium Field. Registration for this event is $10.

 

3MF perform live from 4:00-5:30 p.m. on The Patriot Place Stage: 3MF, aka Third Man Factor, is a modern rock jam band starting to make some major waves in the Boston music scene. With an experienced sound, which has often been compared to the Grateful Dead and the Allman Brothers Band, they please the ears of listeners both young and old.

 

Celebrity Appearance – Bill Rogers; 4:30-5:30 p.m. near the Main Stage: Bill Rogers, four-time winner of the Boston Marathon, will be signing autographs at his booth near the Patriot Places Stage

Finish at the 50 5K & 10K Race Starts at 6 p.m.: The event you have been waiting for. Run the 5K course around and through Patriot Place and Gillette Stadium or the 10K course through Foxborough. Both races Finish at 50 inside the stadium.

 

The Four Fathers of Rock perform live from 7:30-9 p.m. on The Patriot Place Stage: This band is Maine-based and plays the best of classic rock music. With several different generations in the band, The Four Fathers of Rock perform a wide variety of tunes. The goal is to get you dancing. Rod Welles-Lead Guitar and Vocals, Freddy Dame Jr.-Bass Guitar and Vocals, Jim Wiggin-Piano and Vocals, Gary Dominguez-Drums and Percussion.

 

Fireworks Spectacular; 9 p.m. above Patriot Place along Rte 1: Join Patriot Place as everyone celebrates the birth of our nation with a fireworks spectacular in the skies above Patriot Place. The event is free and open to the public.
