OLYMPICS 2012: See When and Where to Watch Local Athletes on TV, Online

The excitement of the 2012 London Olympics begins Friday. And with so many events, finding the ones you want to watch can be tough.

Patch sifted through the schedules to make viewing your favorite Olympians and events easier for you. Below, you will know when the local athletes will be in action and when you can watch them.

But before you can watch, you need to know where in Foxborough you can view the Olympics and celebrate the summer games?

We start our list of potential viewing venues at Patriot Place with .

The state-of-the-art restaurant has more than 135 high-definition televisions. It has an outdoor seating area that overlooks and has an enormous high-definition movie screen to watch sporting events. The atmosphere is fun and lively.

And as for an establishment outside of , be sure to check out Waxy O'Connor's - a traditional Irish Pub serving traditional Irish food, along with pub food favorites like burgers and pizza. It has an outdoor patio and HDTVs "at evey turn."

Now that we've addressed where to watch the Olympics, it is time to look at what to watch.

NBC and its networks announced it will show every event, so no matter who you are rooting for you should be able to find his or her competition. Some will be streamed live on the NBC Olympics website’s Live Extra.

The opening ceremonies for the 2012 London Olympics are Friday, but the competition began Wednesday.

Gymnast (and ) Aly Raisman of Needham will have a busy Olympics. She will take part in the team competition and depending on how she does in qualification, she could compete in the all-around and individual events. Only two members of each team can qualify for the all-around and individual events. Also, they must be in the top 24 overall for the all-around and top eight overall in each event. Raisman placed highest on the beam and floor in the Olympic Trials and finished third in the all-around.

• Qualification begins on Sunday, July 29, which will be shown from 2 to 2:40 p.m. on NBC and in the primetime broadcast which begins at 7 p.m.
• The women’s team final is on Tuesday, July 31, at 11:30 a.m. online and will be shown in the NBC primetime broadcast which begins at 8 p.m.
• The balance beam final is on Tuesday, Aug. 7 at 11:47 a.m. online and will be shown in the NBC primetime broadcast which begins at 8 p.m.
• The floor exercise final is on Tuesday, Aug. 7 at 12:23 p.m. online and will be shown in the NBC primetime broadcast which begins at 8 p.m. 

Marblehead’s Shalane Flanagan competes in the women’s marathon on Sunday, Aug. 5. The race will be shown live on NBC, Channel 7, from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Northborough’s Dorian McMenemy will swim at the London Games where she will represent the Dominican Republic, where her mother was born. The 15-year-old who attends Algonquin High School will swim in the 100 butterfly.

• Heats begin on Saturday, July 28 at 5:34 a.m. on the streaming internet feed. Swimming will be broadcast on Channel 7 at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
• The semis are on July 29 at 2:40 p.m. online.
• The final is the same day at 2:30 p.m. online, and will be shown in NBC’s primetime broadcast, which begins at 7 p.m. 

Rower Kristin Hedstrom of Concord will compete in the lightweight double sculls.

• Heats begin on Sunday, July 29 at 5:40 a.m. online at 3:40 p.m. on NBC.
• Reparchages is on Tuesday, July 31 at 5:10 a.m. online and on NBC from either 11:15 to 11:45 a.m. or 2 to 2:30 p.m. on NBC.
• The semi finals are on Aug. 2 at 5:30 a.m. online and on NBC in the primetime broadcast beginning at 8 p.m.
• The final is on Friday, Aug. 3 at 5 a.m. online and at 10:30 a.m. on NBC. 

Evelyn Stevens, who grew up in Acton, will ride in the women’s cycling road race. The race is on Sunday, July 29, and will be shown live on NBC from 7 to 11 a.m.

Weston’s Will Newell will row on the USA’s lightweight four boat.

• The heats begin Saturday, July 28 at 5 a.m. online and will be re-shown at 2:30 p.m. on NBC.
• Reparchages will be held July 29 at 4:40 a.m. online and broadcast from 3:40 to 4 p.m. on NBC.
• The semis are on Tuesday, July 31 at 7:40 a.m. online and on NBC primetime broadcast which begins at 8 p.m. on NBC.
• The final is Friday, Aug. 2 at 5 a.m. online and shown at 2:30 a.m. on Channel 7. 

Newton’s Gevvie Stone will represent the USA in the women’s single sculls.

• The heats are on July 28 at 10:30 a.m. online and at 2:30 p.m. on NBC.
• The reparchages are on Sunday, July 29 at 5:20 a.m. online at 3:40 p.m. on NBC.
• The quarterfinals are on July 31 at either 11:15 to 11:45 a.m. or 2 to 2:30 p.m. on NBC, the semifinals are Aug. 2 at 4:30 a.m. online and from 2:20 to 3 p.m. on NBC primetime beginning at 8 p.m.
• The final is Sunday, Aug. 4 at 4:30 a.m. online and from 3:45 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. on Channel 7.

Woburn’s Sarah Scherer competes in the air rifle competition on Saturday, July 28. Qualification begins at 3:15 a.m. online and the finals are at 6 a.m. on NBC Sports Network.

Kayla Harrison of Wakefield competes in the 78 kg. class judo competition on Thursday, Aug. 2.

• The elimination rounds begin at 4:30 a.m. online and the medal rounds will be at 9 a.m. online and at 4:30 p.m. on MSNBC.

Stuart McNay, who grew up in Newton and lives in Boston, is skipper of the US’s 470 boat.

• The sailing competition has two pool races a day on Aug. 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7. The races will be shown online only, beginning at 7 a.m. each day.
• The medal race will be held Thursday, Aug. 9 at 7 a.m. on the NBC website.

Mark Mendelblatt, who lives in Florida but attended Tufts University, will sail in the laser class competition. There will be two pool races a day on July 30, 31, Aug. 1, 3 and 4, which will be shown online at 7 a.m. The medal race will be held on Monday, Aug. 6 at 7 a.m. online.

Boston’s Ruben Sanca will run in the 5,000 meters for Cape Verde.

• The O’Bryant High School graduate will run in the first round on Wednesday, Aug. 8, which will be shown at 5 a.m. online and at 1:15 p.m. on NBC.
• The final is on Saturday, Aug. 11 at 1:45 p.m. online and on NBC’s primetime coverage, which begins at 8 p.m. 

Brandeis University alum Tim Morehouse will compete in the sabre event in the fencing competition.

• The individual tournament takes place on Sunday, July 29, and will be shown online beginning at 5:25 a.m. The semifinal and final will be shown online beginning at 12:55 p.m.
• The men’s team sabre competition will be held Friday, Aug. 3, and will be shown beginning at 6:30 a.m. online. The medal round will begin at 1 p.m. and will be shown online.
