Kids Can Train Like an Astronaut Thursday at The Hall at Patriot Place

The fitness program for kids will feature NASA astronaut Chris Cassidy on Thursday, Aug. 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Hall at Patriot Place.

The Hall at Patriot Place, presented by Raytheon, will host a “Train Like an Astronaut” fitness program for kids featuring NASA astronaut Chris Cassidy on Thursday, Aug. 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Local physical education teachers will run the NASA program, which includes activities like an agility course, a space food and energy station and a hydration station. The program will also include an appearance by NASA Commander Chris Cassidy, a Salem, Mass. native who has logged more than 375 hours in space. His next space flight is scheduled for March 2013.

“Train Like an Astronaut” will appeal to kids of all ages, but is ideal for children in grades K-6. The event, which is open to the public with admission to The Hall, is connected to NASA’s Destination Station exhibit, currently open at the Boston Museum of Science.

The Hall at Patriot Place, presented by Raytheon, is the only sports and education experience of its kind. Through a dazzling array of interactive multimedia exhibits and artifacts, The Hall showcases the tradition of the New England Patriots, explores the history of football in New England, and promotes math and science education for thousands of schoolchildren each year.

Tickets to The Hall are $10 for adults, $7 for seniors and $5 for children 5-12. Children 4 and under are admitted for free.
