Warriors Hockey Ends Season Against Medway
Aiden Campbell had a goal for the Warriors, but it was not enough as Medway beat Foxborough, 6-1, in the preliminary round of the MIAA Division 3 South Sectional tournament.
For the first time since 2008, the Foxborough Warriors had a chance to play postseason hockey.
Entering the MIAA Division 3 South Sectional tournament seeded at No. 23, it was not going to be an easy task to take down No. 10 Medway in the preliminary round.
For a Warrior team that only won five games last season, getting to the tournament was an accomplishment in itself. Unable to keep up with the Medway Mustangs, the Warriors’ season ended with a 6-1 defeat at the Bridgewater Ice Arena Wednesday.

The Mustangs’ offense was too much for the Warriors as both Jake O’Rourke and Tim King had a two goal game. O’Rourke initially put the Mustangs up 1-0 at 7:15 of the opening period with a shot right in front of the net with the assist going to Mike Boldy.
O’Rourke’s second goal came at the end of the first. Already up 2-0, the Medway captain scored another one with only 24 seconds left in the period to give Medway a 3-0 lead after the first period.

The Warriors got some life back late in the second period when Aiden Campbell’s shot near the blue line got past Medway goalie Mike Narducci to make it a 3-1 game with 20 seconds left in the period. Greg Stamatov and Owen Campbell were credited with the assist.
The Warriors had a chance to cut the lead to one after a Dylan Sawyer-Griffith slap shot at 2:45 of the third period but Foxborough was denied by a glove save by Nardicci.
If there was any chance of a Warriors’ comeback, the Mustangs destroyed all hope when Brian Davenport’s goal at 5:24 of the third put Medway up, 4-1.
In addition to his earlier goal that gave Medway a 2-0 lead, King picked up his second goal at 8:23 of the third off a shot from the left with the assits going to Davenport and Derek Dumouchel. A final unassisted goal by Joe Davenport at 10:16 of the third period made a victory all but certain for the Mustangs
The Warriors end the season at 8-10-3 while Medway will move on to play No. 7 Bourne in the opening round on March 2.
