Warriors Golf End Regular Season With Upset Win Over Franklin

The Warriors ended their 2011 campaign in style against the Franklin Panthers. Facing the league’s best, the Warriors became the second team to defeat the Panthers with a 162-164 win at Foxboro Country Club.

Ryan Beattie led the way for the Warriors. With a season best 39 on the 9 hole par 36 course, the score helped the Warriors sneak by the Panthers.

Nick Dowling was not far behind with a 40. The tri-captain ended the regular season with his second lowest score of the season.

“Nick Dowling has been coming on. He’s getting more out of his game now,“ said Warriors coach Shawn Seybert. “He’s getting more out of his rounds now and scoring more.”

Jake Dorman and Alex DiCenso rounded out the scoring foursome with a 41 for Dorman and a 42 for DiCenso.

Peter French shot a game high 37 for the Panthers. Stephen Shea shot a 41. Ben Bedarian and Andy Dean both shot a 43.

It was a big win for a Warrior team in need of a solid round of golf. With the win, the Warriors have ended the season on a very high note.

“Best score of the year by 6 shots. They played very well today,” said Seybert. “Stepping up and playing good at the right time of the year.”

With the season low 162 score, the Warriors go into the post season with momentum and a chance to perform well in the postseason tournament. The Warriors end the regular season with a 7-8 record.

With the Hockomock Championship delayed due to bad weather, the Warriors will compete in the South Shore Sectional Tournament before the League Tournament. Tee time is set for 10am at the South Shore Country Club in Hingham on Monday Oct. 31.
