Use of Ineligible Player Forces Foxborough Boys' Lax to Forfeit 3 Wins

Foxborough High School boys' lacrosse goes from 7-2 to 4-5 after forfeiting three non-league wins for playing an ineligible player in those contests, according to The Sun Chronicle.

The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association has determined the Foxborough High School boys’ lacrosse team used an ineligible player in three non-league contests over April vacation and as such, must forfeit those three victories.

An ineligible player was reportedly used in Foxborough’s two victories over Bishop Feehan on April 13 and 16 and a victory over Reading on April 18.

According to The Sun Chronicle, the student-athlete was ruled academically ineligible in mid-April but miscommunication between administrators and the athletic department ultimately led to the violation.

“A bunch of things had to go wrong for this to happen,” interim Athletic Director Pat Nash told The Sun Chronicle. “Unfortunately, they did. It’s kind of a school system error that has been fixed.”
