Up And Down Night for Foxborough Boys Basketball Team

No matter how many times the Attleboro High boys' basketball team tried to run up the score against Foxborough, the Warriors were the team that wouldn't go away.

At the start of the first and second halves, the Warriors found themselves down by nine-10 points before cutting the lead drastically both times. Yet the third time was the charm for the Blue Bombardiers as they pulled away again late in the game to win 65-59, Tuesday night.

After starting out the first quarter by giving up 12 points, the Warriors showed resillance by slowly climbing back into the game. Starting for the first time on the varsity level in place of the suspended Jeff McPherson, Tim O’Halloran kicked started a 10-2 run with a couple of three pointers to help the Warriors get a one point lead after the first quarter.

“Maybe two weeks ago, we go in the tank and this would be a bad blowout,” Foxborough head coach C.J. Neely said.

With 10 of his 15 points coming in the first half, O’Halloran was one of two players keeping the Warriors in the game for the first two quarters. With 11 points in the first half, Josh Patkin was there to nail shots from the outside as the two athletes combineds for over 66-percent of the Warriors’ offense in the first half.

As they did in the first half, the Bombardiers jumped out to another quick lead to try to take the game away from Foxborough. With a guard rotation that includes Tim Walsh, Chris Walsh and J.J. Jolaoso, the Bombardiers had no trouble finding the open man for the quick bucket.

“They all know that the extra pass is going to get a wide-open look and I think they were able to do that more in the second half,” Attleboro coach Mark Houle said.

Getting the lead back down to two and ending the third quarter down by four, the Warriors thought they could overcome the lead yet again, but it was not meant to be this time.

“The legs got a little bit tired and didn’t have some of those threes that were going early,” Neely said.

Raymond Ivey sealed the win in the fourth quarter with three field goals and going five for six from the free throw line as the Bombariders walked away in a game with its fair share of ups and downs.

In addition to O’Halloran’s totals, Patkin finished the game with game high 16 points. Nick Couroupacis finished with 13 points.

“If we can get that kind of balance out of those threes we’ll be in good shape,” Neely said.

Jolaoso, Ivey, and Tim Walsh all had 14 points for Attleboro while Chris Walsh ended the night with 11.

Attleboro is now 5-3 overall and Foxboro is 3-5.

The Warriors will travel to Franklin on the Jan. 13, while Attleboro will host Sharon.
