Shane Vereen Placed on Injured Reserve, Amendola Unlikely to Play Against Jets

The Patriots running back will not be back until November at the earliest.

The New England Patriots have announced that running back Shane Vereen has been placed on injured reserve with a designation to return.

While Vereen is on IR, the designation allows the team to bring him back later this year. The earliest he will be able to return is Week 10 which is the team's bye week. The next game Vereen will be able to play in is against the Carolina Panthers on Nov. 18

During the team's opener against Buffalo, Vereen injured his wrist and did not practice yesterday according to the team's injury report.

The news is the latest in injury related news for the Patriots. Earlier today, ESPN Boston reported that WR Danny Amendola is likely to miss Thursday's game against the New York Jets with a groin injury.
