PHOTOS: Foxborough Field Hockey Experiences Déjà Vu in State Tourney Loss to Cohasset

Foxborough lost 1-0 to Cohasset in the first round of the MIAA Div. 2 South State Tournament Friday at Foxborough High School, ending the Warriors' season.

The Foxborough High School field hockey team suffered an unpleasant case of Déjà vu in Friday's MIAA Div. 2 South State Tournament first round game against Cohasset.

For the second straight season, the Warriors (11-3-5) fell to Cohasset, 1-0 in the first round of the state tournament.

Friday's game at Foxborough High School was a game of many chances for the Warriors but the ball never bounced Foxborough's way in the one-goal defeat, abruptly ending the Warriors' season.

Foxborough entered the tournament as the No. 8 seed, earning a home game against No. 9 seeded Cohasset (12-3). Cohasset

Despite the loss, the Warriors enjoyed another successful season under head coach Melissa Bordieri.

Foxborough participated in the MIAA state tournament for the 11th straight year after stringing together a 14-game unbeaten streak and placing second in the Hockomock League behind league champion Canton.

Foxborough junior forward Katie Notarangelo led the team in scoring with 12 goals and 14 assists. Senior captain Ellen Decker led the team in goals with 13 and junior Lindsey Venuto recorded a 10-goal season.

Cohasset advances to Monday's quarterfinal round against the winner of top seed Apponequet and 17th seed Ashland.
