Patriots to Bowl for Kids Cause at Kings in Dedham Monday

On Monday, New England Patriots star linebacker Jerod Mayo will host his third annual "Mayo Bowl," a celebrity bowling tournament at Kings in Dedham to raise funds for "Pitching in for Kids" and Boston Medical Center.

New England Patriots defensive superstar Jerod Mayo will join his teammates, sponsors, friends and fans for the third annual “Mayo Bowl” celebrity charity bowling tournament on Monday, Sept. 10 at Kings Dedham, 600 Legacy Place.

Professional athletes and celebrities will be competing to raise money for "Pitching in for Kids" and Boston Medical Center. There will be hors d’oeuvres served before the bowling tournament and a silent and live auction later in the evening.

Participants get the chance to bowl alongside celebrities while donating to two wonderful charities. All proceeds from this event will benefit Pitching in for Kids and Boston Medical Center. Last year 40-plus current players were in attendance and even more retired players and coaches.

Last year's Mayo Bowl raised more than $100,000 for Pitching in for Kids.

Mayo became involved with the organization as a way to give back to the community that has supported him and his career as a celebrated linebacker with New England’s NFL franchise.

The all-star lineup of celebrities who participated in last fall's tournament included Mayo’s teammates Danny Aiken, Deion Branch, Sergio Brown, Albert Haynesworth, Ras-I Dowling, Julian Edelman, Rob Gronkowski, Dan Gronkowski, Matt Light, Rob Ninkovich, Chad Ochocinco, Sebastian Vollmer and Vince Wilfork; and former Patriot Troy Brown. Also on hand for the event were WZLX morning radio personalities Kevin Karlson and Pete McKenzie.

“New England is my home now,” said Mayo. “I am thrilled to be able to give back to the community through this fun and exciting event. It is my hope that we continue to grow this event each year – we want to help as many children and families as possible.”

"Pitching in for Kids is proud to work with Jerod Mayo and Blue Sky Sports & Entertainment," said a PIFK representative. “Jerod is a champion not only on the field, but also in the hearts of children across New England.”
