Oliver Ames XC Defeats Foxborough to Claim Davenport Division Championship
Both Oliver Ames boys and girls XC defeat Foxborough to win back to back division titles.
The Oliver Ames Tigers are once again the champions of the Davenport Division in XC. Wrapping up the dual meet season at Foxborough, both the boys and girls team cruised to comfortable victories over the Warriors for both team’s second division title in a row.
In a preview of things to come in the Hockomock Championship meet, Oliver Ames’ Drew Beck defeated Foxborough’s Brendan Sullivan with a time of 16:12 to Sullivan’s time of 16:24. The two athletes were able to stick together through the first mile of the 5K course with an opening mile of 5:25 but Beck was able to get ahead beyond the second mile.
The rest of the Tigers’ put away the Warriors with their second-seventh runners all coming in within 59 second of each other to win 19-44. Dan Moverman crossed the line in 16:49. Britton Copley finished fourth with a time of 17:13. Sean Gorham and Andrew Kerester rounded out OA scoring with a time of 17:18 and 17:19. The times were good enough for fifth and sixth place.

Kevin Aldrich was the second member of the Warriors to finish. His time of 17:54 was good enough for tenth place. Dean Mazzola was not too far behind with a time of 18:13.
In the girls’ race, the Tigers achieved a perfect score of 15 in their 15-50 victory against the Warriors. Shannon Hickey finished the dual meet season undefeated with a time of 20:23. In second place was Maggie Harding with a time of 20:34. Coming in together in third and fourth place were Robin Loewald and Jillian McAuliffe both with a time of 20:55.

Freshmen Kayla Sepe was the first Foxborough harrier to cross the finish line in 9th place with a time of 22:19. Hallie Young and Jacqueline Bailey were the next finishers with a time of 23:32 and 23:37.
Next for the Warriors will be their first visit to Franklin Park this season. Foxborough will be participating in the Catholic Memorial invite on Saturday Oct. 15. The Tigers will be sending a split squad to the CM Invite while others will be running at the Brown Invitational in Rhode Island.
