New Patriots Wide Receiver Bringing Charitable Foundation to Area

Danny Amendola's "Catch For Kids" foundation will now be benefiting the area's youth.

New England Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola has wasted little time acclimating himself to the Foxborough area since signing with the team in March.

Days after the Boston Marathon bombings, Amendola tweeted he would be donating $100 for every catch he makes this season to the One Fund Boston and $200 for every dropped pass.

Amendola is also bringing his charitable foundation, “Catches for Kids” from St. Louis to Boston to help inner city youth throughout the area.

“Get ready [because] it will be fun,” Amendola said via Twitter.

The foundation, which provides opportunities, support and resources to children and families in need, was established in 2010 with the mission of improving the lives of low-income children by providing daily support and life-changing experiences.

The foundation's programs include:

Back to School

The purpose of the "Back to School" program is to ensure that children have the basic items needed to begin the school year. "Back to School" provides at-risk elementary school children (ages 6-12) with back to school items including back packs, supplies, clothing and shoes.

Read and Rise

Catches for Kids will host the Read and Rise program with Scholastic. This program is designed to bring families, schools and communities together to support children's literacy development by helping families foster the skills, attitudes, and behaviors that support learning through fun, literacy-based events.

The goal of the Read and Rise program is to help children be better prepared for reading and learning when they go to school.
