Melissa Bordieri Earns 100th Win as Coach in 2-0 Win over North Attleboro

Two goals by Abby Tepper was all the Warriors' needed to lock up win 100 for Bordieri.

The quest for 100 wins is over for coach Melissa Bordieri. Despite coming up short against Mansfield two days earlier, the Warriors found a way to earn win number 100 on the second attempt.

“It felt good. It's a pretty big milestone and I am kind of glad to get it out of the way,” said Bordieri.

Getting two big goals from Abby Tepper, the Warriors defeated the rival North Attleboro Red Rocketeers 2-0.

A mostly even game changed pace with 13:11 left in the second half. Tepper was able to redirect a shot from Ellen Decker to get the Warriors on the board 1-0.

“She (Ellen Decker) took a shot outside the circle and I hit it with my stick and deflected it into the net,” said Tepper of the goal.

10 minutes later the Warriors struck again. After a wild play which saw North Attleboro goalkeeper Erin Mullaney dive for the ball and initially hold off the Warriors, Decker once again found the net to give Foxboro a 2-0 lead with a little over 3 minutes left in the game. The goal saw Tepper move the ball around the goalkeeper for her second goal of the game.

“It was very chaotic in the circle and I just had to get it in there,” said Tepper.

The second goal capped off a pair of scores that put the game away for the Warriors and prevented any potential North Attleboro comeback.

“Both were pretty big. First one was just to kinda get us on the board and make sure we’re above in this game and the second one kinda an insurance goal,” said Bordieri.

With the win the Warriors are now 7-3 with 14 points and remain in second place in the Hockomock League Davenport Division Standings.

Next up for the Warriors is their second and last out of league game of the regular season. The Warriors will travel to Brockton for a Columbus Day morning matchup against the Boxers. Game time is set for 10:00am on Monday Oct. 10.
