Foxborough's Bernstein in the Bullpen in New Mexico

Former Foxborough High baseball and basketball standout Ed Bernstein is playing baseball in an independent league in New Mexico.

The former Foxborough High and Tufts University pitcher has landed in the bullpen for the White Sands Pupfish in the Pecos League, an independent spring baseball league in New Mexico this season. The league finishes in August.

As of Tuesday night's game, Bernstein had made eight appearance with a 1-0 record and one save. The righthander had a 1.93 earned run average with eight strikeouts and six walks in 9.1 innings.

He was also a standout for the Foxboro American Legion baseball and FHS basketball teams.

White Sands is located in Alamogordo, N.M., while the other teams in the league are the Santa Fe Fuego, Trindad Trigger, Rosewell Invaders, Las Cruces Vaqueros and Apline Cowboys.
