Foxborough Native Picked in MLB Draft

Austin DeCarr has committed to Clemson University but was drafted by an AL East team.

Foxborough native Austin DeCarr, who just finished his senior season at the Salisbury School in Connecticut, was selected by the New York Yankees Friday with the No. 91 pick in the third round of the MLB draft.

DeCarr, a right-handed pitcher who can reach the mid 90s, has committed to Clemson University, so it remains to be seen which path he’ll take. If he decides to go to Clemson, he’ll have to stay there through his junior year.

He previously played for Xaverian in Westwood.
