Foxborough High School Names Chris Sullivan Head Baseball Coach

The former Foxborough High School baseball standout replaces Bill Sittig as the program's head coach.

The Foxborough High School baseball team has turned to a former captain and team MVP to coach the Warriors in 2013.

FHS Athletic Director Caitlin Brown has named Chris Sullivan head coach of the baseball program, replacing Bill Sittig, who announced in December he would not be returning for his third season.

The Boston Herald first reported the news on Twitter.

Sullivan has a lengthy and impressive baseball resume both as a player and a coach. The longtime RBI Baseball Academy employee most recently coached the RBI Hawks 15U team. The academy congratulated Sullivan on its Facebook page Saturday.

“Congratulations to longtime RBI employee and the RBI Hawks 15U coach Chris Sullivan on being named head varsity baseball coach at his alma mater of Foxborough High School,” RBI said. “The position is well deserved and there is no doubt the players will have a great chance to maximize their potential under coach Sullivan and his staff.”

RBI added that Sullivan will remain an employee of the academy despite his new role with FHS.

Sullivan, according to his biography on RBI Academy’s website was captain of the FHS baseball team in 2002.

During that season he was named team defensive MVP as a catcher and was the starting pitcher in the Hockomock League All-Star game.

He led the Warriors in at-bats, hits, doubles, runs, RBI, walks stolen bases, ERA and opponents’ batting average. Sullivan’s ended his FHS career with a 2.32 ERA. He hit .370 with the Foxborough American Legion baseball team in 2001, leading Post 93 to 17 straight wins, a district title and a sectional finals appearance.

Sullivan continued his playing career at Framingham State College as a pitcher and a catcher from 2003-04.

Sullivan has previous coaching experience at both Foxborough High School as an assistant and Bishop Feehan High School. He also led the RBI Hawks 15U and 16U teams to two tournament finals in 2011.

Sittig informed Brown he would not be returning for his third season with the Warriors because of “increasing time constraints,” according to the Boston Herald.
