Foxborough High School Golf Team Hits the Football Field

The Foxborough golf team traded in their clubs for a day to play a friendly game of football.

There was no need to worry about nailing a birdie or sinking a big putt on this afternoon. The stress of a good shot off the tee and staying out of the rough was nowhere to be seen with this group of golfers. Enjoying a little break during the season, the FHS golf team put their clubs aside to enjoy a friendly intersquad game of football.

Enjoying a day off before the homestretch of the golf season, the team split into two squads led by senior captains Jake Dorman and Matt Laracy. The game allows the team to get closer and enjoy a fun day in an otherwise competitive season.

“Team builder for a most part. Just to make sure everyone feels apart of the team and to make the experience fun for the team,” said coach Shawn Seybert.

The 60-minute game of two-hand touch saw plenty of long passes, quick runs, and a group of athletes use to trying to get the lowest score get a final score so high that it is unlikely to be seen in a real game.

Team Dorman walked away victorious with a 84-70 win. Despite Team Laracy’s attempts to air the ball out, the strategy proved to be unsuccessful.

“I think they just throw it and hope. That's their main strategy which didn’t really work today,” joked Seybert after the game.

The Warriors will be back to work on October 3rd when they face the Attleboro Blue Bombardiers at the Highland Country Club in Attleboro. Tee time is set for 3:15pm.
