Foxborough High Golfers Fall to Oliver Ames

The Foxborough High golfers lose to Oliver Ames Tigers.

After going 3-1 in its first four contests, the Foxborough High School golf team was eyeing a berth to the state tournament.

However, a midseason slump that has seen the Warriors lose seven of their last nine contests have the team going in reverse.

Things continued to spiral downward for Foxborough on Tuesday afternoon at Pine Oaks Golf Course in Easton as they fell to 5-8 after a 145-171 loss to Oliver Ames.

Sophomore Alex DeCenso led the Warriors in the losing effort shooting a 43.

OA was led by Bobby O’Donnell, who shot an even par 34, while teammates Sam Minsky, Kyle Mathison and Nick Carter had scores of 35, 37 and 39, respectively to improve the team to 4-6 on the year.

Foxborough wraps up its season Wednesday when it to Stoughton – which they defeated in the first meeting of the year back in September, 177-201 – for a 3:30 p.m. tee time, while OA hosts Canton at 3:15.
