Foxborough Girls' Tennis Continues Hot Streak Against Sharon

Foxborough girls' tennis team successfully defeated traditional Hockomock League powerhouse Sharon.

On the tennis courts Friday, May 20, the girls Tennis team successfully defeated traditional Hockomock League powerhouse Sharon. Even though both doubles matches were not able to finish due to the weather, victories by Alana Prinos, Hallie Young and Emma Prinos locked up a 3-0 win for the Warriors. All three girls continued to dominate league singles play as Alana Prinos defeated Melissa Yuan 6-0, 6-0. Hallie Young defeated Sarah Toole 6-0. 6-1. Emma Prinos completed the singles sweep with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Faina Volt.

With the win against the Eagles, the Warriors have been able to twice defeat a team that is usually considered the favorite to be league champions.

“New sheriff in town,” jokes Warriors coach Peter Prinos. “We’re riding the coattails of the singles players. They've really carried us the whole season so far."

As the remaining matches were called off, both doubles team were in the same position. Chelsea Miller and Gretta Schaaf lost their first set to Alannah Waisel and Rachel Bashein 6-7(7-0) but had to stop the 2nd set tied 2-2. Isha Raual and Niral Vadadia fell to Jessica Ferris and Angela Zhang 0-6 in the first match but came back to tie it up 5-5. Due to the 3 singles victories, these matches will not be finished.

Next for the Warriors will be a match with Oliver Ames on Monday May 23rd. Match time is set for 3:30 at Oliver Ames High School in Easton. The Eagles will be off until their Hockomock Cup match-up later next week.
