Foxborough Girls' Basketball Advance To Championship

Foxborough advances after a hard fought game against Hopkinton.

The Score: Foxborough 40, Hopkinton 32.

The Stars: Foxborough High sophomore Andrea Marcotte again made big plays against Hopkinton on Monday night at Foxborough High. The guard drained clutch three point shots in the first half of the game. In the second half Foxborough high senior, Kayleen Whall, came off the bench explosive. Whall made many key rebounds and shots that kept Foxborough in the lead. Senior guard for Hopkinton, Katie Sousa, was a key player throughout the game. Sousa made difficult rebounds and shots that kept Hopkinton in the game until the end.

The Turning Point: The second half of the game proved to be the most contensious. Foxborough sophomore Ally Perry, was given a technical foul. Foxborough head coach Sarah Behn was upset with the call and the game took an aggressive turn. Hopkinton forward, Lindsey Doucette, left the game after getting hit in the face by Perry.

The Outcome: The energy in the gymnasium was turned on high up until the last seconds of the game. Hopkinton fought back hard, but Foxborough held on for the win.

The Warriors will take on Archbishop Williams in the championship game Tuesday, Feb.  22 at 7 p.m.
