The Foxboro Field Hockey team returned to action Friday morning as they hosted a scrimmage against the Bellingham Blackhawks. The game served as a tune up for Foxboro’s regular season that starts on Thursday. In the spirit of our fall preview articles on Foxborough Patch, here are the 5 things to take out of the Warriors-Blackhawks scrimmage.

1. Liz Deleney had a solid day in goal. The senior had a solid performance in a game that saw the ball in front of her net most of the time. The score could have been a lot worse if not for her.

2. The offense has some work to do. They performed better in the second half than the first half but need to finish the job. Once they learn to get the shot off, the offense can see some production

3. The possession game has to improve. The first half was spent for the most part in the Foxboro zone. Improve the possession game and it makes the Warriors a more competitive team.

4. It’s just a scrimmage. This was a good chance for the Warriors to be in a game like situation before the regular season and get the kinks out of the system. While they were not perfect, they improved as a team as the game went on.

5. There is still work to do before Thursday’s season opener at Stoughton. If the Warriors can improve and bring a little more offense pressure, then this team may turn some heads.
