Foxborough Boys' Soccer Defeated by Sharon

The Sharon Eagles defeated Foxborough, 3-1, Friday afternoon.

The Sharon Eagles (1-1-1) defeated visiting Foxborough, 3-1, Friday afternoon.

Josh Rosenblum's second-half goal broke a 1-1 tie and propelled the to its first win of 2011 on Friday.

Rosenblum, a junior defender, scored past Warriors goalkeeper Nick Adair at the 27:30 mark of the second half, putting Sharon ahead, 2-1. Classmate Tim Peng followed 90 seconds later with the match's final goal.

Sharon head coach Barry Kaye called Rosenblum's goal a turning point.

Foxborough's Aidan Hyland had tied the score at 1-1 at 3:57 of the second half, assisted by Sawyer Fleck. Sharon junior Ian Beach had scored at 14:21 of the first half, assisted by senior captain Eric Bloom.

"We thought that second goal was going to be the one," Kaye said.

"We figured it was 1-1, that next goal was going to be the deciding factor."

Foxborough (1-2) head coach Pat Nash said Sharon capitalized on its scoring chances.

"We had a couple of nice opportunities, too, but we couldn't put them away. They just out-worked us and played more physical than us," he said.

Foxborough hosts Attleboro at 6 p.m. Monday and Sharon will play away at King Phillip at 4 p.m.
