Foxborough Boys Lacrosse Starts Strong

The boys picked up a 9-4 win over the Colonials in their preseason opener.

The Foxborough boys’ Lacrosse team began their season on the right foot with a big win over Action-Boxboro Regional High School. Coming off of a season that saw the Warriors win their first ever Hockomock League title in Lacrosse, Foxborough continued to play with dominance in a 9-4 win over the Colonials.

Coming out with an aggressive game, the Warriors put up 3 quick goals in the middle of the period. Midfielder Alex Pacitti started the scoring at 3:57 and was followed by Tyler Anne only 3 minuets later.

A minuet later, Cam Felix put the Warriors up 3-0 in a quarter that saw very little possessions by the Colonials. Aside from a goal at end of the period from Tyler Mckelvie, Foxboro was successful with their game plan of limiting opponent possessions.

“The possession battle is key. I told them before the game going in we want long possessions,” said Foxborough coach Matt Noone.

Acton-Boxborough was able to get back in the second period. Gaining possessions and drawing possessions, the Colonials capitalized on their opportunities. Attacker Kyle Soroka got the Colonials within 2 at 5:49. Game momentum would quickly go back to the Warriors. The Warriors would fight back and go into the half with a 6-2 lead.

The third quarter saw Foxboro return to their game plan of maximum possessions with 2 goals. Tom Theos and James Stather both got goals to extend the Warrior lead to 8-2. Bill Roberts would get another goal for the Warriors in the fourth quarter to end the game.

The Warriors showed great teamwork in their offense with each goal coming from a different player.

“That’s senior leadership and just unselfish lacrosse,” said Noone with a smile when notified of the accomplishment.

Overall, coach Noone showed satisfaction towards his team’s performance.

“The boys came out strong. We went up 3-0 at the beginning of the game. Then we got a little bit complacent and started getting some penalties but they held on tight and Greg [Stamtov] had a great game in goal. “

The Warriors begin their defense of their Hockomock League title on Wednesday against the Sharon Eagles.  This will be the first game of the season for the Eagles. Game time is set for 3:45 at State School Field in Foxborough.
