The final score may have been 0-0 but it wasn’t for a lack of trying. With chances by both the Foxboro Warriors and the Canton Bulldogs stopped by great defense and solid goalkeeping, both teams were forced to take a scoreless tie in the Davenport Division Matchup.
“It’s a very balanced game throughout. I thought we had our chances and they had their chances. Both placed great in my mind,” Foxboro head coach Pat Nash said.
A strong effort by Foxboro goalkeeper Nick Adair (8 saves) along with a defense led by freshman outside back AJ Bubencik kept the Bulldogs frustrated and off the scoreboard though out the evening.
Foxboro nearly got on the board in the fifth minute when a free kick deflected to Riley Fleck inside the penalty area but the shot sailed past the right post and out of play.
A pair of chances by the Bulldogs were denied by the Warriors first in the 21st minute when Andre Dorofeer’s shot was tipped over the crossbar by Adair and a bending shot to the left was knocked away with a fingertip save by the Foxboro goalie.
Nader Jichi had one of the best Foxboro chances of the evening, striking the crossbar from about 20 yards out in the 54th minute.
Devante Teixeira was able to beat the Canton defense in the low left corner but could not get past Canton keeper Art McNally at the left post during the 72nd minute.
