Cunningham Wins Northeast-10 400 Meter Title

Former Foxborough High standout Shannon Cunningham won the 400-meter indoor track title at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships.

 

Foxborough's Shannon Cunningham helped the University of Massachusetts-Lowell women's track team to the Northeast-10 title Saturday night at Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.

A junior, Cunningham was the 400 meters in 57.58 seconds and was second in the 200 meters at 25.94.

Cunningham and her teammates will be competing in the New England Championships at Boston University's Track and Tennis Center Friday and Saturday.

The former Foxborough High standout is majoring in criminal justice.

ERSONAL BEST: 200 meters, 25.60; 400 meters, 56.35

AS A FRESHMAN: INDOOR TRACK & FIELD: Qualified for the NCAA Championship in two events: the 400 meter dash, seeded 14th with a time of 56.74; and the 4X400 meter relay, seeded sixth with a time of 3:50.24 • All-New England in the 400 meter dash, placed fourth in 56.74 seconds • Northeast-10 Conference champion in the 4X400 meter relay, set a meet record time of 4:00.29.

FOXBORO H.S.: Former standout at Foxboro H.S. for coach Mike Atwood • State indoor champion in the 200 meters • Team most valuable athlete three years • Captain as a junior and senior • Also a member of the soccer and basketball teams • Involved in Peer Leadership, Student Council.
