Baseball: Foxboro Jr's Struggling

Foxboro had their seventh straight loss Wednesday Night.

Nothing has gone right for the Foxboro Jr's this year. Baseball is a cruel game and Franklin didn't make matters better, handing Foxboro their seventh straight loss with a 4-2 victory Wednesday Night.

On the bump for Foxboro was ace Jeff Perillo, who delivered his third complete game of the season, tasting victory on only one start. The all-star lefty gave up 4 earned, struck out 6 and walked three on 8 hits.

Foxboro came out hot mashing three hits in the top of the second, two landed shortstop Chris Buchanon and DH Dan Riley on second giving Foxboro the 1-0 lead. The lead lasted three innings until Franklin fired back with a run of their own on two hits including a double to notch the score at even.

Defensive woes turned out crucial in the bottom of the fifth when Franklin, with the bases loaded capitalized on a ball lost in the right field sun. The mishap only scored one thanks to a seed thrown by Foxboro first basemen Mike Cappadona and great tag by catcher Drew Briggs.

Franklin went off in the bottom of the sixth adding two runs on three hits and walk.

Used to fighting back all season, Foxboro jammed the bases full on two base hits and a stunning 9 pitch walk from second baseman Cam Nagle. Cappadona drove in a run with a sac fly but it proved too late.

“It's tough, especially hanging with a good team like Franklin,” said Foxboro Coach Brendan Greely. "All you can do is keep battling.”
