Splitsville Liquor License Denial to be Appealed

After being denied a liquor license transfer from the Dana-Farber Field House to Splitsville by the Foxboro Board of Selectmen, the Kraft Group has appealed the decision to the Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission.

The appeal argues that the denial was "arbitrary and capricious" according to the Sun Chronicle.

The appeal was initially filled on Nov. 8 by Steven Miller who is an attorney that represents the Kraft Group. The specifics to be delivered once the selectmen's written decision is received by the applicant.

After two public hearings, the selectmen denied the liquor license transfer to Splitsville 3-2 with board members voting against the transfer citing public safety concerns and use of the Howl at the Moon brand as reasons.

Splitsville officials have said that the use of Howl at the Moon was to have access to the dueling piano bar's performers and would not include the large drinks served at the bar.

Police Chef Edward O'Leary traveled to both Splitsville at Downtown Disney in Orlando and Howl at the Moon in Boston for research on the establishments. During the hearings, he gave a favorable report for both establishments and said that Patriot Place had agreed to add a supervisory roll to help coordinate weekend details at their expense.

The 650-750 person bowling alley at Patriot Place was expected to open in April.

Opposition to the vote has been strong with residents starting a petition to request the selectmen to reconsider their vote.
