Should Ahern Middle School Students Use Personal Electronics to Take Notes in Class?

A "pre-pilot" digital note-taking program could begin at Ahern Middle School later this spring.

Traditional note taking may soon be a thing of the past for some Foxborough students as Ahern Middle School looks to embark on a “digital note-taking” program as part of a “pre-pilot experiment,” according to a recent article in The Sun Chronicle.

Ahern Middle School principal Susan Abrams told The Sun Chronicle the classroom experiment would involve the school’s eighth graders in an effort to better prepare the students for “the changing world of learning.”

The program could begin as early as this spring and would involve students taking class notes on their own electronic devices such as laptops, iPads or tablets.

"Our idea is to try to get students ready for the high school - and the world in general," Abrams said via The Sun Chronicle, stressing the program is simply an experiment.

Interested students would need to sign an agreement to use these electronics in the classroom.
