New England Patriots' defensive back Ras-I Dowling will visit with approximately 900 students at Ahern Middle School in Foxborough Tuesday morning as a reward for achieving their summer reading goals.
Dowling's visit is part of the Patriots' "Read Between the Lines" summer reading program. A special assembly will be held at Ahern for the students to visit with Dowling, who will congratulate students and talk about the importance of reading.
The Ahern Middle School students with the most books read in each grade along with one lucky student randomly selected from those who participated in the program will be rewarded with a special meet and greet with Dowling.
At the end of the 2011-2012 school year, Patriots players announced the “Read Between the Lines” program at four local middle schools, where they challenged students to achieve reading goals over the summer and chart their progress in a special “playbook.”
Log on to Foxborough Patch Wednesday morning for coverage from Tuesday's assembly.
