Kindergarten Meet and Greet: A Success!

A recap of the Kindergarten Meet and Greet at Igo Elementary School May 18.

A Meet and Greet was held May 17, at the Vincent M. Igo Elementary School for children entering Kindergarten in the fall.

The Meet and Greet was used to welcome and introduce incoming Kindergartners to their new school and teachers. It was a very open and inviting atmosphere. The Kindergarten teachers were planted within their own classrooms, prepared with various activities set out on the tables for children to engage in. Each of the teachers seemed more than willing to talk with parents and children on any questions or concerns they had about the upcoming school year. While teachers were busy answering questions from nerve-racked parents, the future Kindergartners raced from room to room, eagerly exploring their future educational environment.

The Meet and Greet was particularly helpful for students who are certain to be in the half-day program next fall, being that the classroom and teacher for this program has already been decided upon.

Mrs. Renee Muirhead (the half-day program teacher) was thrilled to welcome all potential students and seemed proud to discuss the half-day program and schedule with both parents and children. There seemed to be an endless amount of questions from parents on whether they should enroll their children in the free half-day program or dish out the tuition for the full-day program. Although the teachers did their best to explain the differences among the two programs, it ultimately remains a decision for each Kindergartner's guardian.

There was also a Meet and Greet May 18, at the Mabelle M. Burrell School to allow children in that district the opportunity to explore their new school, as well as meet and greet their future teachers.
