Gardner Named New School Committee Chairman

Foxborough School Committee reorganizes; School lunch prices increase by 25-cents.

Bruce Gardner now has a new title: Chairman of the School Committee.

Gardner was voted chairman unanimously by the board as part of its reorganization Monday night, May 23.

"I am pleased to be your new Chairman," said Gardner. "We have a wonderful committee."

Newly elected school committee member, Beverley Lord, was named Vice Chairwomen.

As Gardner prepared to take his new seat as Chairman, out going Chairwomen, Katie Adair, spoke briefly on the board's many accomplishments over the past year. 

"This committee has worked very hard this year to [produce] a balanced budget and I would like to thank the voters and members who came to town meeting to approve our budget," said Adair. "[Our accomplishments] include the hiring of a New Superintendent and new Assistant Superintendent as well as our commitment to working on our policies."

As the end of the school year approaches, the school committee faced a packed agenda at their Monday meeting. After reorganizing, the committee engaged in discussion over the adoption of the Sangari Active Science Program, science textbook adoption and a request to increase school lunch prices by 25-cents - a request that was approved by a vote of 5-0.
