Foxborough High's New Athletic Director is ... Caitlin Annicelli Brown

Annicelli Brown, a FHS coach and history teacher, replaces Craig Najarian, who resigned in June to become the Athletic Director of Holliston High School.

It took just over six weeks for to find a replacement for Athletic Director Craig Najarian, who resigned in June after five years at FHS to become the Athletic Director of Holliston High School.

Foxborough Schools Superintendent Debra Spinelli announced Monday night via e-mail that Foxborough High School has hired Caitlin Annicelli Brown as its next Athletic Director.

“Caitlin is a tremendous role model for students both academically and athletically,” Spinelli said in an e-mail to Foxborough Patch Monday night. “She will bring her passion for educating students in the classroom to the athletic program. She is an outstanding communicator who will build strong relationships with a variety of constituent groups to benefit our student athletes. In addition, Caitlin's skills as a teacher leader will be invaluable to our talented coaching staff and to our Administrative Team as a whole.”

Annicelli Brown has served as Foxborough High’s girls’ soccer coach for the past five seasons and has been a FHS history teacher for the past seven.

Spinelli’s announcement says Annicelli Brown has a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from Trinity College and she will be completing her Master's Degree in Educational Leadership next month from Bridgewater State University. She was a four-year varsity soccer player and team captain at Trinity.

Annicelli Brown was Foxborough High’s top choice out of a field of 96 applicants, according to an article in The Sun Chronicle. New Foxborough High principal Diana Myers-Pachla led the team that chose Annicelli Brown, according to the article.

Annicelli Brown replaces Najarian, who served as FHS’ Athletic Director for the past five years before informing Spinelli of his resignation on June 16 to take the Athletic Director position at Holliston High School, effective July 1.

“We had a great conversation about how this move will improve quality of life for [Najarian’s] young family ... he lives in Northboro," Spinelli said. … “Craig has brought professionalism and organization to our athletic department and has a history of hiring talented coaches. He is well respected in his field and is a positive role model for our student-athletes.”

Spinelli added that Najarian will be available to ensure a smooth transition for Annicelli Brown, who is expected to begin her new role immediately.

Editor's note: Foxborough Patch will be following this story up with a feature on Annicelli Brown.
